coming soon, Kardashians Wild Wedding Ride,,,shortest ride duration on the property. :zipit::lol:

"Aww man, it just started..."

ok now back to test track. a new showroom and queue will be nice. I dont see how they are going to keep the line moving if your busy being interactive designing a car. I hope theres at least some ride scene upgrades. Hopefully they didnt ditch this all together.

It seems the line will probably be more stop and go with a set up like "Sum of All Thrills" but on a larger scale.

It would be nice if they added some scenery to the ABS area especially.

What happen to the tron style effects or new show scene elements/with a little world of motion feel thrown in so many kept saying were part of this?

To be fair they just still need to repay the loan. They aren't presently taking more funds nor have they for some time.

Its advertising. Any company is going to advertise, regardless of how much or if they are taking more public funds (didn't stop BoA did it?). I'd rather them use it here than in the commercial break for "Keeping up with the Kardashians".

They payed off the loan to both the U.S. and Canadian Governments in April of 2010. Why do people think they are still taking money? The U.S. government is still holding onto GM stock hoping people realize how good the company has been doing (Ford and GM are by far outselling everyone else in the last 2 years) and buy the stock raising the price. GM is actually in really good shape right now so to invest into a ride at Epcot where 100s of millions of people will have the chance to ride it over the next decade or so does seem like a good investment

I'm curious to see how you will be able to "design" your vehicle. I agree it will probably be invisible options like horsepower and things of that sort. Personally, I think it would be cool if by "design," they mean picking the different tests (i.e German Blocks vs. Belgium). Still, I don't see the track changing much if at all. Most likely more queue, preshow updates.

Might want to read the thread ... espically the part about GM footing the bill for this entire rehab ... the imagination pavilion has no sponsor.

think if GM sponsered the imagination pavilion...

journey onto the freeway with figment...

P.S and i see no chance of kodak to come back because uh... yeah there about to go bankrupt...

Wouldn't they make even more $$$ if they attempted to please everyone?

Yes but how can you please everyone? There will always be unpleased guests that want more and more. No company can please everyone.

sorry if this was asked and answered.
Any dates or when it's shutting down? just booked for mid April.

Thanks

Closing after the Easter rush and slated to open September 21st.

Especially cultural critics. Sheesh! Like the world would be so much better with a Whole Foods on every corner.

I'm not sure if I am the minority in this, but in some ways I am getting tired of all of the "interactive" elements shoved down our throats. I suppose I cannot judge this until the rehab is completed, but "interactive" does not always add to the immersiveness of a ride, it can actually detract from it. Mission: Space is an example of a ride that requires interactivity for the theme and benifits from it. HM is contoversial, but in all honesty the interactive queue is an unnessisary addition if nothing else. If the interactivity adds to the immersiveness of the experience, then fine, but it should not be incorporated just for the sake of being interactve. Are they giving guests something they cannot get else where, yes. Are they giving guests what they want? Arguable but I would say not nessisarily.

FWIW the new 'Magic Your Way' brochures do not have Test Track listed as an attraction for Epcot... I assume in preparation of this lengthy refurb to cut down on complaints?

I wonder if they'll incorporate some kind of "augmented reality" into the attraction now - kind of like the new hitchhiking ghosts. You design your new car, and then as you pass through the attraction, you go in front of video monitors that overlay your standard-issue TT car with your chosen design. So, you could have the appearance of seeing yourself ride around in some very weird looking designs, maybe even get a ride photo in the augmented car.

For the selection process, I wonder if it'll be a voting scheme like the old Horizons, where you could vote on the ending you wanted to see. Or, perhaps you'll get to select one feature of the car, so each of the six occupants gets a voice in the matter. It'll probably be something like SSE, where you select options as you go, and then the final ride incorporates them.

Let's think about what they cannot change, at least what is not likely to be changed in a short-term refurb/overlay. Almost certainly there will be no track layout changes, nor vehicle changes, except for a SSE-type fix that adds touchscreen monitors. In terms of the ride itself, each car will probably have to stick to similar profiles for acceleration and deceleration, to keep the timing of the vehicles in synch, so the user-driven inputs probably won't affect how the vehicle drives on the track itself. That's too bad, because it would've been nice to make the actual vehicle movements interactive.

Perhaps there will be a portion of the ride where you can select a test environment, and then ride through it? Can Imagineering pull off a convincing projection of zooming through different environments (snow, forest, coastal) using something like what was done with the "If you had Wings" attraction in Tomorrowland?

If nothing else, I'll be glad that the next time I ride TT, it'll probably have all of its special effects in working order!

I agree that sometimes interactivity can be distracting. There are instances when I don't want to have to build something, shoot something, measure something, push buttons, or have my picture taken in order to "properly" participate in an attraction. I just want to sit down and be passive in experiencing it.
One way the TT refurb could be a huge fail is that if it amounts to immersing you in a Chevy commercial by way of selecting add-ons for your rig. That would not have a high repeatability factor for me.

Ride Elements - story

Looking at the vehicle "skin" posted on Mice Chat and and other sites with it's appearance as a "Tron-esque" circuit board type design, could the story be for you to design your vehicle for a computer type simulation and then have the ability to ride the simulation? You're shrunk down to size or joined with the simulation to ride the vehicle through the testing? (The transformation would take place suddenly in the darkness of the briefing room).

Near the conclusion of testing, a vehicle created by a computer malfunction (Chevy concept sports car shown on video screen or stationary with lighting effects) cause you to have to escape the simulation at high speed exiting out of the computer (ride building) to escape? I'm just trying to put thoughts to how the ride would have Tron like elements without a major restructuring as some rumors have indicated.

There were new Magic Kingdom maps printed for January, I would expect another new Map on February 17th, perhaps with our favorite Flying Elephant on the cover.
