Now I love my steak, and I noticed that Victoria's & Alberts have a Wagyu on their menu.I have only had this beef once,in of all places,an Italian restaurant in Cyprus. The chef would only cook it Med/Rare and it was only 6oz and cost me €80.00 that's about $50.00.But you didn't need a knife to cut it,your fork sliced thro this awesome piece of beef.Has anyone out there tried V&A for this awesome steak.Altho originating from Japan,I believe Australia and USA have this also but think it maybe called Kobe beef.;)

The night we dined at V&A they did not serve Wagyu steak, I have had Kobe beef before and yes it's tender but I didn't find it as flavorable as "regular" beef, I like some fat on my steak or my taste aren't refined enough.
Yeh,Ive just found out that supermarket giants " Asda " sell the Wagyu beef.I also like marble in my steak, hence the rib eye is a favourite of mine.

We had a portion of Wagyu beef when we dined at Remy (the $75/pp upcharge fine dining restaurtant on the Disney Dream cruise ship) in September. It was wonderful. If I could do that meal over I'd ask for a slab of the Wagyu, a big dish of the cream potatoes w/short rib, a full platter of the house-made candy assortment (mostly the caramels), and non-stop refills of the champagne cocktail & the essence of cucumber & tomato water to drink. Chef Albert came out to speak to each of the tables before they left. He mentioned the Wagyu was a Japanese beef that came from Australia. I knew Wagyu was quite a pricey beef so part of our conversation with Chef Albert was about cooking methods because I'm not a very skilled cook. I've always been afraid to spend that much on steaks and chance ruining them. It was a fascinating conversation and truly enhanced the meal experience. Yes, Wagyu can be quite expensive. On this website the ribeyes start at $59.99 and filets start at $74.99. I'll assume that's per pound. Yikes! Guess I'll just have to make another reservation for Remy on the Fantasy in May. LOL!

**edit**
I stand corrected. Just went back to the website linked above. The $59.99 is PER RIBEYE up to 12 oz. and the $74.99 is PER FILET up to 8 oz. So, that's actually more than the assumed per pound scenario. Double YIKES!!!

I have had Kobe at V&A (well, my ex-wife has had Kobe at V&A and I tried some). If I recall, it was a $50 upcharge on top of the pre fixe price (this was back in 2006 or so).

As others have said, I found it better than "regular" beef of the same cut, but so much better as to be worth the price difference. I would say, if you are going to eat it any other way besides Med-Rare to rare, and with nothing but a sprinkle of salt and a crack of pepper, you are wasting the money.

I had the Wagyu steak add on, it was amazing! It was a $45 up charge, but well worth it. The whole QV room experience is well worth it if you can afford it. I hope to return to enjoy it again someday. Another tasty item was the cold smoked lamb. We were lucky and the chef was trying out different items he planned to serve for the New Years Eve party.

I know that Tom Colicchio's Craft steakhouses (he has a few now) have the real deal - and at a real deal price. I think that if I was looking to get Wagyu (and not trumped up lower end Kobe), that would be the type of place I would get it.

Interesting...I love steak...but V&A is not even on my radar...Im not much into that sort of dining...give me Yachtsman any day!
I like your thinking Sgt! Thought of you while visiting my chiro on Tuesday. He went to Disney w/his family, and we discussed restaurants at Disney, preferrably where to get a great steak. He was unable to get into Le Cellier, and opted for Yachtsman and loved it. I told him I had a Disney buddy who loved it and he said to tell you, you had very good taste!! LOL

My wife and I had it at V&A's on Valentine's day 2007. It was wonderful, except 3/4 of the way through the meal I developed the stomach flu. Not a happy camper for so many reasons!
