Using Uber for getting to and from the Amway Center

This December when I'm going to be at WDW it just so happens to be that my favorite NBA team the Toronto Raptors are playing the Orlando Magic, so I bought tickets to the game. Now instead of driving our car to the Amway Center I thought we would use a Taxi. This past August when I was at WDW we asked one of the Mears Taxi drivers parked outside the Boardwalk how much would it be to the Amway Center? He told us it was $45.00, however when I went on a Taxi calculation website it said the cost was $65.00. I than went on the Uber website and it said the cost from the Boardwalk to the Anyway Center was $17-$23. Now based on that we will be using Uber, however I never used them before and for those who have is it easy? I know to download their app on my iPhone, however I'm wondering when to request it before going to the game and when to request it before the game is over? Any help would be appreciated.

I use it a lot and I can't say I've had a bad experience, but I can't say I've ever used it in Florida. With Uber, you might want to get it earlier than when you're intending to go so you can avoid traffic. The drivers wait 2 minutes for you to get to their car once they're at your pickup location. So I wouldn't call for one until you know your pickup location and you can get there. Obviously it takes the drivers time, and you can get their ETA on the app, and you can call them for additional details about your pickup location. Hopefully this is somewhat coherent, and I hope it helps.

I used Uber for the first time in Orlando last week and I was really impressed plus the cost difference was huge! it cost me $70 to get from the airport by Taxi to my resort and only $23 to get back using Uber. I will be using it again and may use it for our family trip planned next spring. It was pretty easy to use and the valet parking attendant was more than happy to help me when I was a little lost on the app at first.

I was just in Orlando on a business trip about a month ago. I had to drive all over Orlando. Other than Rte 4 being crazy busy it's not that bad of a city to drive around in. Probably the worst I have ever driven around in is Virginia Beach. I would consider driving yourself. Just have an up-to-date Garmin, or whatever you use, because the roads around Orlando are constantly changing.
