Using DME during stay to go to the airport

Hello there.
At the end of my stay at All Star Sports I would like to rent a car since I´ll be staying offsite for other 3 days.

Although there are plenty of options to rent car at site, none of the companies does have better prices than what Payless is offering at its rental office near airport (MCO)

I was wondering If I could use DME the day before checkout just to go to the airport and rent a car? It means not checked out. Is it possible?

I would say "no" as all the documentation both you and Disney have (assuming that you used DME to get to ) shows you're checking out the following day

They gave us a sheet of paper that we had to use as a ticket with designated times in order to board the DME. I don't think you can get on it without that paper.

I think you can go to front desk/ or luggage assistance to ask the day before you want to board. My son has departed one day before I actually checked out and had no problem using DME. Tell them you do not have a flight and plan to depart on standby at Southwest or whatever using Rpid rewards or something. You do need to schedule ME ahead of time so they can accommodate guests .
You can also reserve the regular Mears shuttle one way. I was surprised at how reasonable it was last trip for one person staying in a non- Disney hotel... might be faster. I wonder if they drop off at the airport car rental versus going to airport on ME and then waiting for the car rental shuttle... Mousesavers.com is listing Super Shuttle as $18 one way and has coupon for SS or Mears.

Yes, you can take DME on a day other than your checkout day. Staying in a WDW room you are entitled to one DME bus ride in each direction within the dates of your trip, no matter what day that is. There are many instances where some members of a group will arrive later or leave earlier than the rest.

Just call the DME number directly (866-599-0951) and tell them you need to go to the airport but won't be taking a flight. They'll ask you what time you want to leave the resort and they'll schedule you on the closest bus pickup time. (Calling DME directly is essential, since WDW Central Reservations isn't very good at handling these "out of the ordinary" DME situations)

The only issue would be if you somehow wanted to be transported from the resort to the airport more than once per trip. You're only entitled to one ride in each direction.

Yes, you absolutely can do that. My sister left 3 days earlier than us last spring but she was on the reservation for the whole time (only because we didn't want the hassel of making 2 separate bookings just to take her off for the last 4 nights) She also arrived 2 days after we did in 2012 and she had no issue having a different DME time than we did. As @Rob562 said, Just give them the information so they can make sure you are booked to go to the airport.

Great advice. Thanks Rob

I have never tried this but seeing all those disney buses going to and from the hotels from the airport would it be possible to hop on the disney bus if i was staying at the airport hotel to get to the WDW!
I would fully understand if they did charge without a booking on site hotel or to the parks just interested to know if it has been done!

You don't just "hop on a bus" for DME. Your magic band or whatever credentials are checked before you're allowed on the bus, so no.
