Universal Studios Florida shattered its all time attendance record yesterday. Had over 55,000 guests in the park at once apparently.

For those keeping score, only the Magic Kingdom and Epcot have ever posted numbers higher than that on the eastern seaboard.

I guess their slump is over?

I've worked there for 3 years, been through 2 mardi gras, 2 hhn's and never seen anything like last night. It was incredible, hopefully a good sign of attendance to come, just hopefully not that bad.

It could also be b/c Ellen DeGeneres was filming there this week. I know just seeing her at the parks going on the rides made me want to return ASAP! :ROFLOL:

Good God, I considered coming down to see Daughtry. I'm so glad I didn't. It was bad enough last time we were there, that would have been absolutely ridiculous.

A friend of mine went to see Daughtry - said it was like the day Sean Paul performed x2. The only things he and his wife wound up doing were FFL and Twister.

So not only did USF set a new record, but both parking garages were filled to capacity. They had to bus guests in from resort parking when the garages were declared at capacity.

Not surprisingly, the Orlando Sentinel has still not ran an article about the amazing weekend this resort had. I love the bias that paper shows these days.

Two more weeks left of the "big" spring break weeks... Then us locals can return to our parks!

I had the unfortunate pleasure of driving on I4 Saturday. It took me an hour and a half to get from Disney to the Turnpike! No accidents, just tourists!

You know the parks don't release attendance figures, especially to the media. The only way they know when the WDW parks hit capacity is through their radio scanners and people calling them.

The paper can't go off of online blogs for info, though the local TV stations do and sometimes get caught broadcasting bogus info and even retracting stories on rare occasions.

I don't think the Orlando Sentinel is biased. I didn't see anything last week or this week with park numbers for any park. It hasn't even made the TV stations.

Actually Ellen was there last week. It probably has to do with Chris Daughtry...I don't see the big deal

Sweet merciful crap, it was packed last Saturday. 55,000+ doesn't surprise me in the least. We showed up at 6:45 with plans to watch the Mardi Gras parade, and abandoned all hope by about 7:30. We could barely walk through the streets.

Insane, I tell ya!

I wonder what the crowds will be like this weekend with KC and the Sunshine Band. I don't want to think about it!

We went to eat at Margaritaville last night with some friends from out of town and man it was packed for 7pm! I can't wait for Spring Break to end so we can have our parks back... That is at least until the summer when it's too hot to go! :slurp:
