Use WDW toiletries or bring my own?

Hi all, I'm trying to get a handle on a bunch of things before our trip to WDW...so the question of the day is how are the toiletries at WDW, and specifically AKL? I'm trying to limit the amout of stuff I need to bring, so I'm looking for feedback on the toiletries to decide if I should bring my own soap, shampoo & conditioner...Also is there any difference in the toiletries given in the concierge rooms vs. standard rooms? Sorry for all the questions, but I really do appreciate everyone's help so far!!

Thanks!!

We've never stayed concierge or at the AKL, but we have always used the toiletries at the resorts. I have 2 kids with sensitive skin and they fair well, no irritations.

We always ask mousekeeping for a few extra to use at home too. :)

I found that the shampoo and soaps dried out my skin and hair (Please note I am very fussy). The shampoo made a thick head of hair very dry and frizzy.

My fiance had no problem using the items given to us in the hotel. I think its a matter of personal preference.

Never had an issue but coming from Denver where it is extremely dry the humidity makes our skin feel great regardless of what I use.

Peace,

I bring my own shampoo, conditioner, and bar soap wherever I stay. It's just a matter of preference.

If you bring the right size product to last the entire stay, you won't be packing it to bring home. That's more room for souvenirs in your bag ;) .

YUCK!!!! They are horrible!! Its cute with the mickey on it but thats it. I have curly hair and I tried the shampoo/conditioner and I could barely get a comb through my hair. If I had proceeded to use it during our stay then I would have come home with dread locks. Funny but no lie. I also suffer from sensitive skin and the soap was okay. But I just feel safer if I bring my own stuff. Hope this helps. Have fun on your trip:sohappy:

I'm not THAT desperate for a makeover!!!

Well, the LAST thing I need is dreadlocks and sandpaper skin, so I guess I'll be packing my own stuff!! Thanks for the info!!

Kids and DH like the shampoo, we all like the soap, but I prefer my own shampoo and conditioner in a travel size. We like to save as much for at home to make the memories linger a bit longer.....great fun to pull out at bathtime months later!!!:animwink:

I also pack our own. I put some in travel size bottles, that way if there is any left when the trip is over, I just throw them out. And my DD and I have to use Ivory because we can't use the deoderant soaps. DH can use them, but since ours is already in the shower when he gets in he just uses ours. I bring home the ones from the hotel and arrange them in things and display them in my bathrooms. When we first started going, ASMo had a dispenser in the shower. So sadly there was nothing to bring home that year.

We haven't stayed at AKL, but here's our take on the items. We all use the soap, no problems with it. The shampoo is a little different. My husband uses it with no issues. My son uses kid's shampoo. I, on the other hand, can't use the little bottles they give you. It makes my hair frizzy too. My hair is too thick and I have to use a lot. Plus, the humidty is enough to send my hair wild! If you are picky about your shampoo, bring your own. The Micky soap is great. We also bring it home with us!!! Its too cute not too!!!

All the deluxe resorts are going to get new high end products by H20 Plus https://www.h2oplus.com

The Polynesian and GF already have them so maybe the AKL does also. The Polynesian just got them last week. They will offer shampoo, conditioner, skin cream and some sort of burn relief gel. The deluxe resorts will no longer have the Mickey soaps.

This is how I feel. They even changed to a new kind since the last time I was there. I like it. They had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel along with little white soaps with a hidden Mickey in it. They are pretty cute.

I used my own and took them home with me. I used the shampoo and conditioner today at the gym. My hair isn't he best looking today, but then again I did it at the gym...........

Bring your own, it isn't that hard. Pack them in Ziploc bags just in case.

This is what we had at BCV last week. It was just shower Gel though. Maybe they don't bring out the burn relief until the sun is stronger.

Regardless of where someone is staying, if they know that certain toiletries can give a negative reaction or indeed have a favourite that's been found over the years by trial and error, then take the toiletries with you.

You may want to decant some into travel bottles if space and weight are at a premium in the luggage.

We all love the Mickey bar soaps, and I use the shampoo. My wife brings her own shampoo/conditioner, and the baby stuff for the kids.:)

We just got back from our stay and got the H2O stuff near the end of our stay. The soap had small mickey's on them- I kinda like them better than the old ones (gasp!) and I didn't try the shampoo or conditioner yet because I had packed my own, but it was a blue shampoo and a white conditioner. They also had shower gel and lotion. The shower gel was blue also.
