Usage of vacation discount codes

Hiya folks! Another question for you all!

I got an e-mail from Disney Destinations with a discount code on it. Our tentative trip dates are Dec 7th to 18th, however, I'm not ready to book the vacation package just yet.

If I were to book it, and a better code were to arise (free dining for example), can I switch discount codes or am I locked in with the one I already chose?

Thanks!

You could not change it if your talking about going in a few weeks. The trip would have to be paid in full, if your planning on going any time before 45 days (you have to be paid in full 45 days before your trip). Now, if your planning on going next year, you could book, then cancel your trip, if a better code comes around, and rebook using the code. EDIT - just reread your post, I guess your going next year. Have fun

I'm assuming you're pin code is for next year. Yes you can book with the pin code now and if a deal comes out that you like better you can call and have your package switched over to the new deal. We did it with both of our trips this year. We went from a pin code to 4+3 in June and then we went from a pin code to free dining for the trip we just got home from.

And just a side note, there is usually no need to cancel one reservation and rebook on a new one, as long as both reservations are for vacation packages. You can just call Central Reservations and have them switch it over to the new discount.

The only time (as far as I know) that you have to cancel one and rebook the second is when you're switching from a Room-Only to a Vacation Package and vice versa.

Sounds about right to me too Rob. We usually like to book our rooms about a year out each trip. And then when the package prices come out for the next year, we have our CAA agent switch it over for us right away. She usually has to cancel the one reservation and make new ones.

We had booked our last trip (March 2009) and had it paid off in full back in March or April of 2008 using the 2008 prices, only to be pleasantly surprised when the Buy 4, Get 3 deal came out later in the Fall of 2008. She once again switched it over for us to get us the better price, only this time without having to cancel the reservation again. WDW just refunded us the difference.
