US Airways

My vacation package for WDW for October is paid in full and was a US Airways package I have purchased from my travel agent. If US Airways would fall......what the heck would happen to my paid for trip?:(

I'm sure your travel agent would take care of that. I'm guessing they would do their best to book you in the same time periods on a different air line.

Have you tried calling your travel agent to ask? They might know more than me. ;)

I dont think the #6 United States Airline will fall anytime soon. I do a lot of research on the Airlines of the world and I can tell you, no worries, the travel industry is very strong. UsAir will hold up.:)

Did you purchase trip insurance? Maybe you should look into it - ask your travel agent. We don't use a travel agent any more - just book our hotel directly, and use Southwest's web site for everything else. (P.S. I agree with jaylenofan86 - Southwest is the BEST!!! If they don't fly there, we don't go there!) :animwink:

I much prefer newby JetBlue. They have cable tv for every seat, the employees are impecable, and there is more leg room and the seats are more comfortable than any other airline's--plus there is no first class; everyone gets good seats.

I don't know that purchasing trip insurance would do much good in this case. From my experience with it, insurance is for theft or in case of something happening on YOUR end so you can't enjoy your vacation. I think that if something would happen to US Air, that you wouldn't have any problem getting money back or getting a flight on another airline. I've only had trip insurance once, 5 years ago, so my opinion on trip insurance might not be accurate. I have renter's insurance now, which covers most things that would be lost or stolen during a vacation.

Southwest is a great airline. One of the top rated airlines in most catagories. I've never flown JetBlue, but have heard lots of great things about it as well.

Yep, the only airline I'll work for as a commercial airline pilot. No need to change your ratings to fly different airplanes, only the 737!

Well, last Thursday I talked with a few pilots in the lounge at my flight school before I left to do my solo class B airspace landing that day. Landed at SFO! It's scary with all the 737 and other airplanes when your in a Cessna 172! We talked about it for a while, about United and American are taking over the airline world.

Thanks for all of your responses. I did purchase trip insurance but it only covers for cancellations. I havent heard anything recently about it, but was curious to know what would happen if it did. My travel agent purchased the whole package through US Airways. She says nothing is going to fall through with the trip and it is all "talk". I'm thinking perhaps it isnt in her best interest to say otherwise...all her package trips are through them. LOL Hopefully, all will be well...Thanks again.:)

United and American taking over the world? i dont think so. I would see Delta, Continental, or SWa do that not UA or Amr. Thier companies arent strong enough, one of their CEO's said so.:)

Yes, but American did bought Air Cal and TWA and United is in an alliance with other strong airlines like Air New Zeland and Lufthana. United almost bought USAir! Hmmm... kind of strange, is it?

We don't have JetBlue down here in Texas. We had Legend Airlines in this area a few years ago, who I think did a similiar thing, but they went out of business. Maybe JetBlue will come down here sometime!

Ever heard of SkyTeam Global Alliance? Very Strong:
Delta
Czech Airlines
Aero Mexico
Air France
Alitaila
Korean Air

Wow, very co-op team. After 9-11 United and UsAir talks were off. Their CEO said they would crash( the company) and go bankrupt, great leadership.

USAir is not in any trouble now. You should be ok. We were talking about alliances and how United and American were buying everyone out. USAir is fine now. Don't worry about it! Be happy!:D
