I currently have a reservation for 9:50 on December 23rd at Cinderella's Royal Table, but I would be happy to trade this reservation with anyone who has a reservation starting at 9 at California Grill. Email me at angelo.spiro10@gmail.com if interested!

You can't technically "trade" ADRs. All one can do is cancel and hope the cancelled time slot is available to be picked up by the other person.

Your best bet is to continue to check within 24-48 hours of the time you want...that's when people will cancel ADRs to avoid the $10 per person penalty for no shows.

I would also recommend using a reservation availability tool found on this and other sites, like Touring Plans.

Ditto that recommendation. Here's the link: https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder

I believe it requires a touring plans account, but you do NOT need to subscribe if you don't want to (although I'd always recommend that people do -- it's inexpensive, and totally worth it for the ability to make personalized date-specific touring plans, alone, not to mention the room finder tools, restaurant menu search tool, etc.), but I digress... Thanks for your reply. While I do completely understand you cannot directly trade reservations, I was simply suggesting dropping my reservation at a given time with someone that has agreed to also drop their reservation at California Grill.

unfourtnately it doesn't work that way. When you drop an ADR it isn't immediately available for someone else to grab.

So how does it work? When does it become available? I know if you drop a Fastpass it goes right back in the que, what is different about the ADR?

I don't know the "why," but it doesn't seem to immediately become available. I'd heard this before and when I dumped our 5:30pm 'Ohana dinner reservation a few weeks ago in the middle of a random afternoon 90-some days out, out of curiosity I "watched" to see when it came online (by searching for an 'Ohana dinner reservation for that date, for our party size, and constantly refreshing the search). I got bored and abandoned the effort after a few minutes, but in that few minutes, it was not put back in the system as the searches showed no availability. Regardless, if and when somebody scored it, I hope it made their day!

Submitted for your consideration... YMMV

I had it work when I had a BOG ADR I didn't want. That being said, I had nothing to lose because I was dropping that ADR and didn't need anything in return. I don't know if I'd want to trust Disney's system enough to try a drop and pick up if I really needed to pick something up in return.

There is an entire series of month-by-month threads on DISboards devoted to coordinating the cancellation and making of dining reservations. I've never done it myself, but for something that people here say is impossible, it seems to be done quite regularly and with success by the members over there.
