Upgrading to an AP?

We are going this summer for 7 nights 8 days. We are getting 8 day park hoppers...

I'm about I get the go ahead to run in the F&W 1/2. I'd get a 4 day hopper with this. Looking at it I think I'd save $ going ahead and getting an AP. Am I able to do just my ticket for the summer as an AP? If not can I upgrade at the park?

You can upgrade your first ticket into an Annual Pass once you're there. You'll just pay the difference between the 8-day ticket and the AP.

Tip: If you bought the ticket at a discount or before the recent price increase, *use* the ticket to enter a park first before you upgrade it. That will lock in the *current* gate price as its value when you go to upgrade.

As @Rob562 mentioned, if your ticket was bought from another retailer besides directly from Disney, enter a park first, and before leaving said park, stop in at Guest Relations to upgrade. You do have the option to upgrade your ticket at any time, before your ticket expires & before you use your last day.

We did this in February: we were actually gifted 4 adult, 5-day PH's. Since AK was first on our agenda, we visited that park from opening to almost close, but before leaving, we stopped in at Guest Relations. Entering the park first "locks in" Disney's price for that ticket; and when upgrading, Disney calls it "bridging the price difference." We essentially paid $129 each for a Premium AP using the above method!!

However, word to the wise: know the "price difference" before you upgrade. As it stands, a discounted 8-day PH = $402.33…Disney charges $419.61 for same ticket, and $675.21 for AP. "Bridging" would cost you $255.60 for your AP, saving you $17.38! And, "yes," this would save you $ rather than buying an additional 4-day PH!

It's a relatively easy process!
