Upgrading package

I'm wondering if anybody here can give me some help...

I'm looking to upgrade our room on my holiday in September, but without my partner finding out so it will be a surprise.

I live in England so I can't be calling overseas numbers, and it was booked through the Disney website so I can't take it up with any travel agents.

We're staying in French Quarters, so I'd only be upgrading to a River View room as that is the nicest available in that resort.

Is this at all doable? Could I even change the resort we're in for a real nice one?

Thanks!:)

You can always change to a different resort or room as long as they are available for your stay. You will have to call to change it unfortunately...

You need to call to make any changes. You can upgrade to a river view or a deluxe hotel if you wish for the price difference. And you must do it before 45 days before your trip.

We have stayed at French quarter twice now and will be back for our third trip in September. I personally wouldn't pay the extra for a river view room. There is no balconys to sit on to enjoy the view and I feel If you sit and look out the window in your room you would only have a view of the railing on the walkway outside your room. There is many nice spots to sit along the river, which is what we do. It's a beautiful resort, we request building 5 which is a great location, close to the pool, main building, movie area and river..and I like that it is not adjacent to the parking lot.

Did you book with the Walt Disney World Travel company?? (Basically though disneys uk website) cause I don't think the number is an international one so you shouldnt get any nasty charges

I could be wrong - or maybe this isn't true for people overseas who book wdw trips - but I'm pretty sure that you can always ask to upgrade when you arrive, and if the upgraded room is available (and especially if you're willing to pay the difference versus "fishing" for a free upgrade), they'll do it. And if the room upgrade is not available, use the money to do something else special, a carriage ride next door at Riverside, or a fireworks cruise (again, it available), a dinner show you hadn't planned, parasailing, etc.

I was told there is a fee to make any changes within the 45 mark. $65 for packages, plus the cost of the upgrade/change...
