upgrading MYW tickets to AP's question

I am planning a last minute trip for November or early December this year at Port Orleans. My question is this ... If I buy a "package deal" with the free dining and 10 day park hopper tickets and then want to upgrade my tickets to AP's, does anyone know how much actually gets applied toward the AP? I tried to ask the "live" help on the Disney website but was informed that I have to do this at GR in the parks. I already knew that much thanks to all the good people here. I tried to find the answer before posting my question here but can't seem to find anything other than people saying Disney applies the price paid for the MYW tickets towards the AP's. With a package how do I know what I ACTUALLY paid for the tickets? Do they apply what the going rate is for a 10 day MYW pass? Which right now is $368.49 (after tax) for adults and $348.26 for kids. Since we are planning to do this for 6 adults and 2 kids knowing the cost, at least roughly, would greatly help ahead of time lol. Thanks in advance for any and all help. :brick:

They will credit what you originally paid. If the tickets were discounted, I believe they'll only give you the original discounted price... I am not 100% sure though.

I do know that if you buy your tickets from an off site vendor, they will credit you the unreduced cost, just as if you had walked up and bought the MYW tickets. This did save us about $66 total this last spring on three annual passes. It would seem logical to me that Disney would give you the full cost against the annual passes, but that may not be true.

In my experience so long as you USE the tickets at least once, you get the current "gate" price of them when upgrading. If you do NOT use them, you get what you paid.

I've upgraded from discounted AAA Florida Resident 3-day tickets to AP before and gotten the full gate price in credit for example.

This is solely a your mileage may vary sort of thing but I've heard this from others as well.

They should give you the current gate cost. Whenever you do plan on doing an upgrade, know the numbers beforehand. The CM will need to "bridge" the difference between what you actually paid for the tickets, and the current gate price once you have used them once. Not all of them know how to do this, or bridge it to the correct price.

Just go down knowing a few numbers.
1) What you paid for your tickets
2) Current gate price for the equivalent tickets
3) Current gate price for the upgraded tickets you want
4) Price difference between the upgrade and the tickets you have

If you know those numbers, and the price the CM quotes you doesn't sound right, ask them to double check and make sure that they bridged the ticket before figuring out the upgrade cost.

Your MYW tickets should be at current gate price already unless you booked and started paying for your trip prior to a ticket price increase. Then you may be looking a few dollars difference once bridged.

Thanks all for the helpful info. I am looking at the package with the free dining and as far as I know there was no discount on room or tickets offered with that package so should be at least close to rack rates. Getting excited now and can't wait to book our trip!!! Thanks again!!! :sohappy:
