The only times I've ever heard of someone being upgraded to another resort level is when it was offered. One person I've heard of being offered prior to arrival and another was when they were checking in because the resort was overbooked. I wouldn't even know how to go about asking.

I've been upgraded as far as view but, never resort. I ask at check in if there are any rooms "with good views" and I've been given a lake view or a garden while paying for standard.
At "POP" iv'e requested the 60's building with view of Hourglass Lake everytime and have never not gotten it. It seems that everyone at POP wants a pool view.

If you are going to upgrade from a Value resort to a Moderate resort, it would be better to do it before you go so that you can arrive at the correct place without delay.

Good luck.

I agree with all of the above responses. It would be a bad move to purposely wait until you arrive at your Value resort to try to upgrade to a Moderate resort.

Resort staff can only handle things regarding their own resort. The front desk staff are not Disney reservations agents.

And Disney doesn't give any discounts for "last minute" travel. As a matter of fact, resort staff have no choice but to charge you rack rate (full price) if you just walk up to the front desk without a reservation.

You'd also waste a lot of time going to one resort if you intend to stay at another. Walt Disney World is rather large, about the same land mass as the city of San Francisco ... it's not like you can just walk across a plaza to a Moderate resort from a Value resort.

If you're sure you want a Moderate resort, call Disney reservations NOW and try to make that move now. Who knows, there may even be a good discount available. But I want to make sure you realize that Disney isn't like a lot of other hotel chains that will deeply discount last-minute walk-ups.

No. Room prices will remain pretty much fixed for the entire year. If you want to upgrade do it now.

Keep in mind that WDW resorts operate at a very high percentage of occupancy rate. If a discount is available, it is a couple of months ahead of time. It is pretty much impossible to get a discounted room at the front desk the day of arrival. Depending on your travel dates you may not get a room at all.

Also, getting an upgrade to a moderate resort on your day of check in at Pop will probably never happen. The moderate resorts are very popular.

Another thing, WDW is not in the buisness of giving away rooms or upgrading when they don't have to. You will be offered an alternate resort if the one you booked has been overbooked.

Bottom line, if you don't plan ahead to get a discount, don't count on getting one when you get there.
