Has anyone ever received a complimentary upgrade to a better room when staying at one of the Disney resorts? if so, how did you swing it?

Is it even worth asking?

Last October I stayed at the Caribbean resort and actually got a downgrade from a King to two doubles. It was late so I didn't want to bother going back to the front desk to complain. After I got home I received a refund check for the difference in price without even asking. I assume I got a lesser room because we didn't check in until around 11:30pm.

Have asked to be upgraded a couple times at the contemporary (to a tower) and was offered concierge level when checking into the WL once for a very small per day fee.

Never hurts to ask. Just always be polite!!!

This happened to a friend from work. She and family were visiting during Sep. 2000. They had 2 rooms as there were 8 of them on the trip. They were staying 10 days at the Boardwalk. Around day 7, everyone was at the pool except my friend when the phone rings. She answers and it is the front desk calling for her brother who's name the room was under. She explained that he was at the pool and she would have him go to the front desk to see them. She went to the pool and teased her brother that his credit card had maxed out or something. When he came back he told them that they were being moved to a 2 bedroom suite. Mousekeeping packed there stuff and everything. They had been in a room that had a wheel-chair accessible bathroom and it was needed for a wheel-chair bound guest.
