Upgrade question

Has anyone ever been upgraded to a different resort for free? We are arriving late after midnight and a friend told us that if the hotel is booked we maybe upgraded/moved to another resort? Just curious if anyone has experienced this?

The only time you will be upgraded to that degree is if the room you have booked has uexpedictly gone out of service for one reason or another and there is no other room available at your resort.

It is not a common occurrence as they do not deliberately overbook the resorts.

It happens, but rarely. When you arrive has little to do with it, they upgrade when rooms are unexpectedly taken out of service. If you arrive before the unexpected happens, you'll get the room you were assigned. If after, they'll upgrade someone who's staying for a shorter stay rather than a longer one, just so they're not losing the difference in price any longer than absolutely necessary. There are occasions where there are a number of guests who could be upgraded that they might give some discretion to CMs to choose who gets upgraded, but that's even more rare.

Certainly, don't depend on it or expect it. If it happens, that's wonderful. If it doesn't, you're getting the room you requested.

It would be more likely that you would be moved to a resort at the same level - ie. if you are staying at a moderate resort, they would move you to another moderate before moving you up to a deluxe.

You can always pay for an upgrade otherwise 99.9% sure it won’t happen.
