I'm a huge fan of the Contemporary - it is the nerd side of Disney :geek:
My fascination with it began in 1983 when we made our first trip to WDW, shortly after being married in 1982. As a young, broke couple we stayed in a budget place out on 192 that is not even there any more. I do remember it was less than $20 per night. When we first arrived at MK we rode the monorail to MK and were floored when it went through the Contemporary. That moment of fascination was one of the first impressions for us of WDW. Maybe that is why it seems so "Disney" to us.

I adore the Contemporary.:inlove: Personally, it is the resort that feels THE MOST Disney to me and what I've seen of BLT feels like an extension of this vibe. I can only rely on the interior BLT pics I've seen as well as what I've seen of the exterior in person, but I'd love to try it one day and would actually be really bummed if someone told me I'd have to stay at the GF or Poly b/c they overbooked. Not sure why, but the Poly has never appealed to me and while I love the common areas in the GF (gorgeous lobby), the guest room décor - well, I'll be nice and just say it's soooooo not me...to the point that I wouldn't want to stay in those rooms.

So really, the only way you could upgrade me from BLT is to upgrade me to something fabulous in the Contemporary tower.

Yes, Contemporary seems so Disney. Right now BLT is our top choice...feel so blessed to be headed there soon. Really want to try AKL as well. Favorite so far is WL and BC, but as I have said before, never stayed at a Disney resort we did not like. BW and SSR were great as well. Will see how VGF is someday, but GF was too stuffy feeling for me.

I think the outside of the Grand is quite, well, grand but the rooms seem stale and 'grandmaish' to me. The lobby area at GF is unsurpassed but you don't stay in the lobby, right? But, the new DVC rooms look fresh, classy and I def will be trying to book there for our July trip. With that being said, I also cannot wait to stay ay the Poly when that DVC is complete. The Poly, CR/BLT and the GF/VGF all seem to be kind of equal, to me.

I never had any desire to stay at CR because like most, I thought it wouldn't give out the Disney vibe that I like. Well, I stayed at BLT a couple of weeks ago and boy was I wrong. Until you stay somewhere, you cannot get the true feel and to me, BLT is as Disney as you can get. The rooms were ultra modern but there were Mickey paintings on the wall and the views are amazing. We had a MK view which was incredible. We saw Celebrate the Magic and Wishes from our room and it was stunning. We also had a view of the Grand, the Poly, Swan, monorail, , ferry, Wilderness Lodge, Lagoon and the water pageant. That to me is quite Disney. Being able to take a quick walk to MK was awesome...no crowds to fight. Taking the mono back was easy and short. Having Chef Mickeys right there was great. The BLT and CR pools are both awesome, huge and the slides were cool. There were campfires and movies at night and trivias and games during the day at the pool. The Community Hall was fun on a rainy morning for my kids. It was a great experience there and I recommend it. Plus the smell in the lobby at BLT was soooo pretty...hehe.

Grateful for all the responses and did mention there is something for everyone. I am glad there are so many different choices. So far, I have been happy trying different places at WDW and truly enjoy different experiences. Some people say they will never stay off site, something we do at least once per year. Again, something for everyone. What I view as one of the most Disney of resorts, others don't care for. Different strokes. On the opposite end of the spectrum is how, to me, AoA is over themed to the point of being distracting, and GF's theme felt a bit stuffy, but we still very much enjoyed them. I may be one of those who would enjoy the cardboard box theme, if Disney ever built the Art of Shipping Supplies Resort. :joyfull:
I liked trying all the different hotels, too! And I'm a huge fan of staying offsite.

One day, you must journey over to Uni and stay at PBH. It's wonderful. :)

Been to Hard Rock...it is pretty amazing. Two more to go....and I'm betting they will build more.
