Upgrade Anyone?

2 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

WHOOOOP!!! My family and I will be at akl in 2 days!!

We right now have a standard room, I was wondering what the best way to try and get an upgrade would be? Are there any promotional codes, or any memberships I could quickly get to get an upgrade to a Savannah room?

and, is it even worth going to a savannah room?

What I've been told, the difference in Savannah and Standard, is whether or not Animals are viewable from your balcony, for me that is a major difference. Someone correct me if I am wrong, since I will not be at the Resort til next month to know for sure.

I adore the savanna view rooms! We just got back from Animal Kingdom Lodge and I wish I could just move there and live in a savanna room forever! I love animals, so that's really what made it for me. This was the first time we stayed there but I don't think I would've really cared about the hotel quite as much if I didn't wake up and see a giraffe eating breakfast outside my window. This was the first time I've ever been at Disney that I was actually anxious to get back to the hotel from the parks! In fact, we left the parks early every day just so we could go back and watch the animals. I plan on going back and staying in a savanna view again, I don't think I'd enjoy it as much if I wasn't in a savanna view. I don't know about upgrading, I'd suggest just calling and seeing what they can do. We booked our savanna view rooms when we booked originally and used our annual passholders discount. Oh and I HIGHLY suggest eating at Boma for dinner one night, but you need to call and get a priority seating in advance. It's probably the best dinner I've ever had at Disney. :slurp:

Disney may automatically give you an upgrade when you arrive if space is available. However, if this happens it would most likely be to pool view since you're reserved for standard view. At least that's what happened for us when we went a month ago. You can't count on free upgrades, but they do happen occasionally. I'm not sure about promo codes or anything, though.

Even if you are in standard view, there are plenty of spots in the hotel from which to see animals.

You won't be disappointed.

AKL upgrade

The AKL is great. I got a wake up call and room service everyday that we stayed there at 6 am. That's when they feed the animals. We had the Savannah view room so I sat on my balcony and watched until my husband got up. I don't know about an upgrade. I understand things are pretty quiet there right now so maybe you'll luck out.

If there are any rooms available they should upgrade you automatically. This doesn't always happen though, and if it doesn't ....ask for one. The worst thing that can happen is they will not have anything available.
