Update to TRex aquarium post from March

Here are the photo's I took in April. You can tell the 'real' fish tanks from the one they put up a panoramic photo up in the shape of the fish tank. Over the course of two week it remained a photo. I only took 2 photo's as I just darted in, by photo #2 you can see the lady (who dared to get in the way of my photo of the fish tank) get a tad annoyed with me. lol

I stopped back by TRex this afternoon to see what they did with the aquarium that ruptured back in March and it has been replaced by a rock feature and a new Jelly Fish animatronic or something.View attachment 55560 View attachment 55561

TO ME IF YOU LOOK AT THE SECOND PHOTO OF MINE, THIS LOOKS LIKE WHAT WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE FAKE AQUARIUM.

From comparing your photo to mine it looks like they removed the aquarium altogether and now you see directly what was once obstructed by the aquarium that was removed. You can see the tentacles and lights in my photo.

If this is WDW, it was not replaced because it was cheaper to not replace it.
The T-Rex Cafe chain is actually owned by Landry's, the same company who operate the Rainforest Cafe chain as well as the Yak and Yeti at Animal Kingdom. It is more them being cheap since it is not owned by Disney.

I am not sure about the jelly fish one but the one where the picture is has been updated to my first picture with the 2 dinosaurs. Loved your pics by the way!

Its just trendy to blame Disney for everything. Its like the "cool kids smoking behind the gym in high school" of this forum.
I'm not sure if you knew or not, but all the sinkholes in Florida....they are Disneys fault too. I actually heard that they are caused by Disney having to remove so much cash from its underground storage bunkers do to Next Gen overruns, the ground is collapsing.

I think I can shed some light on this topic.

The original tanks in T-Rex where installed by Acrylic Tank Manufacturing. They have there own show called Tanked on Animal Planet. I don't know all the details on it but there is apparently some bad blood between them and the Director of Biology for Landry's Restaurants (Jim Prappas). Apparently the guy is a real Hard ---.

Anyway, as a result the tanks in Rainforest Cafe where installed and are still maintained by Living Color Aquariums. (From there TV show it seems they don't have the best relationship with Prappas either but hey $$ is $$. And they are local where ATM is bases outa Vegas)

My BEST guess would be when that tank busted they weren't about to go back to ATM to fix it because of the bad history and there was probably some sort of contract regulation preventing anyone else from repairing that tank (typical thing for a tank company to try and get an exclusive work contract for THERE tanks). So instead of going for a new tank they went with a cheeper option.

My wife and I drop into T-Rex as often as we can to see the tank at the bar.

I'm an aquarist my self and have salt water fish tanks.

Lastly you can see Prappes first hand here

Tanks are so heavy. I used to have a 240 gallon tank with a 80 gallon refugium. The floor started to bow and I had to put a bunch of posts in the basement to keep the floor up.
