This thread is in response to another thread about "classic rides" that got me thinking about redoing the classic dark rides of Fantasyland such as Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Scary Adventures, and Winnie the Pooh(debatable classic). In my opinion, the rides through cardboard cutouts are outdated. These rides could be suped up with animatronics!

I think Pan and Snow White need big updates. Bring in AAs, brand new Special Effects - the works.

I wouldn't work on Pooh until it really needs changes. The other two can use some definite touch-ups.

Good idea! But looks like we'll have to wait till the funds rack up when IASW and other E-tickets are finished with rehabs.

I would definitely like to see technological updates to Peter and Snow. They are more nostalgic for me, now, whereas when they opened in 1955, they were ground-breaking. Some new technology and Animatronics would allow for that nostalgia to stay while making these rides the ground-breaking E-Rides they deserve to be. But, they will have to get a Fastpass for a refurbishment after Pirates and the Haunted Mansion :)

So far we are %100 in favor of updates! I wouldn't mind keeping the same sequence that the attractions follow, but I'd like to add character dialouge, action, and advanced animatronics. I'd love to see a Captain Hook animatronic, he's my favorite villian.................Side Note: with innovations in animatronics like Lucky, we may one day see character animatronics walking around the parks!

For some reason, I think some Entertainment Cast Members are very, very scared. :lookaroun

a Capt. Hook animatronic would rock! It amazes me how Disneyland can be smaller than our Magic Kingdom, but have so many more rides. Maybe we can get a new dark ride?! Who's up for a Sleeping Beauty dark ride with an animatronic dragon?! I'd also love to see a dark ride spawn from my favorite unsung hero's story, Robin Hood. That movie has the best music and really does warrant a ride...I miss the days when Disney made good movies!

I don't think Entertainment CMs have much to worry about. These walking Animatronics are very expensive, so they would never be out in large force, and we are a ways away from having Animatronics that are both bipeds and can walk on their own...it is a remarkable thing that we humans can balance on two feet, and it took millions of years to evolve that talent (and a medulla capable of supporting it), so it should take WDI...a few more years ;)

I'm still voting for Mary Poppins. :)

If they don't tighten up and act magical they should be........I'm sure Eisner won't mind a workforce of wage-free robots.

I'd like to see charcter animatronics!!!

who says scrap the bogus Harry Potter Ride idea and build a structure like DL's Toad/Alice, with two Fantasyland dark rides in the same building, one on top of the other (Alice is on top of Toad)? See? I don't JUST want thrill rides! Peter Pan's da man!

Robin Hood is one of the most underrated Disney movies ever. A dark ride would be fantastic, with a climax that takes place escaping from the burning castle after a really eerie and quiet jail break scene...that would just be too great for words.

As neat as I think new animatronics in Pan would be, newer effects, etc, I still want to say Nooo! Just because the Pan ride as it is is my baby. I used to work there, and part of the reason I loved it is because it's older, more touchy, tends to break down alot... now I know that means it needs alot of work, I know, I know... but I love it how it is!! It's nostalgic for me.
But in all fairness, updates of Pan and Snow White would be in Fantasyland's best interest. And a Robin Hood dark ride would be awesome.

Could you imagine if they used the trackless design like they have at the Winnie the Pooh's Honey Hunt in Tokyo, where each vehicle takes a different path when escaping from the castle so it feels like you are in a group of escapees?! Better yet, everyone would take a different path through Sherwood Forest and you could even see different corridors in the Castle--this would introduce Indiana Jones Adventure type variability and it would be such a kewl ride!

I'm all for Robin Hood too! It's a great classic that's often forgotten. Having Robin and Mary Poppins in Fantasyland would be fantastic. But as for the rest of the rides, all upates should be technical.

Hey Grizz, you keep talking about Mary Poppins. Are you just dreaming or do you know something that we don't?

Mary Poppins would be fun...however many dreams of ours it takes to dispel that foul Potter nightmare, we will create. I know WDI can't take ideas from others, but let's just say if Marty Sklar is reading this thread, I won't say you took my idea if Robin Hood: THE RIDE opens in 5 years ;) (the vehicles could go forwards and backwards in utter darkness and mind altering speeds of 3 mph!) "Robin Hood: THE RIDE: it will scare the money right out of your pockets"

Here here! for the the Peter Pan Ride. And what about Jungle Book?

I wouldn't mind them updating them, so long as they didn't do a lousy job of it or totally kill the spirit of the ride. As involved and chancy as it might be, I would actually like to see them build a totally new Peter Pan with two sides for better capacity, and then use the current Peter Pan for something else.

I would also love to see them something that was totally unrelated to a movie and that was a completely new idea.
