Upcoming trip questions

Hello all,

This is my first post in a while, but I have a few questions. I just booked a trip for June 3rd-10th at Saratoga Springs. It will be my girlfriend and I for all 7 nights and my two buddies are joining us for the 3rd to 7th. It was the only DVC left and we even had to get a one bedroom since the studio's were sold out. Does anyone have any suggestions or information to share about SSR? I know pretty much nothing about it. I'd love to know peoples favorite sections and tips about drinks or the food on the resort. I feel like I never hear anything positive about any restaurants at SSR.

Also, is the monsters university projection playing in Epcot all summer or was that a one day thing? I haven't been to the world since last May. ( a year is a long time to wait!) I feel like I have missed a lot not being on the boards as much this year. I still don't even know how far along fantasy land is. Any tips/ feedback or thoughts is welcomed.

I didn't eat in SSE restaurants, sorry. It's a nice place, though. Very pretty. Nice bushes and stuff. You'll have a kitchen, so you can save some time (and money) eating there, if you want.

The monster thing on the ball was a one-night deal. I didn't go, but the pics looked cute!

FLE has not opened the kiddie coaster yet, but the rest is opened. Dumbo has relocated and gained an additional spinner. The Little Mermaid dark ride has opened and is very good, for an omnimover, IMO. There are also meet and greets with Ariel and Belle. Be Our Guest restaurant has opened and is always booked solid for dinner. You can eat lunch there (fast-food type), if you feel like standing in line for 30-45 minutes. It's a really well done restaurant environment and very much worth seeing, IMO...but whether you wish to wait is up to you. :)

We're @ SS June 9-14. 1st time staying there.:) Check out allears.net for room suggestions, and a great video w/ restaurant menus and such.

I can tell you that the Springs section is closest to the main "carriage house". The Paddock section is across the bridge and has a brand new pool w/ a large water slide and a "bucket dump" area for kids. The Grand Stand section is across from the carriage house and has a pool w/ water spray jets for kids. The Carousel is pretty far away, and Congress Park is too, but it's a beautiful short walk to Downtown Disney.

The Turf Club is a nice restaurant on site. We're hoping it's going to be a great place to stay! I'm fairly certain it will be!:D

I stayed there in February with my sister and it was beautiful. I have a trip report if your interested.

The people at the Artists Palette were very nice. We enjoyed the meatloaf dinner one night. It took me a day or so to get oriented but once I did it didn't seem so big. We were in The Carousel section which was one of the first bus stops coming and going to the parks. And it was very convenient to the Paddock Pool which had an area for refillable mugs and a really good bacon cheese burger. We took the boat to Downtown Disney which was nice to have right there. All in all its a great resort, I think it doesn't get a lot of love because resorts like Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge have such amazing theming and Saratoga Springs theme is pretty understated.

Have a great time!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses. It is disappointing to hear that the monsters university was only a one time thing. Sounded like it would of been really exciting. Your responses made me a little more excited for SSR, I'll have to put more effort into researching the areas. I have heard mixed reviews and loved my past vacations at WL and AKL.

Saratoga Springs is a great resort. I've stayed there twice and I enjoyed it a lot. You can walk to Downtown Disney or take the boat over which is really nice. The only things I really didn't like about it are that it's kinda far from the parks in relation to other hotels and that if you're in a building far away from the lobby/pool then it can be a pain in the butt when you want to get food, fill up your mug, etc.

Some other things to point out is that their main pool is really nice and that the Artists Palette is a great QS location. You'll definitely enjoy the resort a lot!

In regards to the Monsters Inc projection at Epcot: That was just a one night thing for the press announcement regarding the 24 hour day at Magic Kingdom.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
We have stayed there in a 1 bedroom and really enjoyed it. You will definitely like the setup of the one bedroom vs. the studio. Bathroom has a large whirlpool tub with a vanity a separate shower in another room with a separate vanity where the toilet is. Kinda odd layout of the bathroom but will be nice for some separation when the friends are with y'all. Gotta share the toilet but both rooms have doors that close it off.
Also Turf Club restaurant is very good. A hidden gem that we visit every trip even when staying at another resort. Food is very good! Great table service choice. :)

We stayed there last year in the Congress Park section. We loved the short walk to DD. It did take a few days to grow on me . It seems like an older crowd though, not saying that as a bad thing, but we had two 13 year olds with us who were kinda loud in the pool. Found myself telling them to keep it down a few times. Did not eat at Turf Club, but Artist Palette was quite good. I think it is a great place for people who plan on enjoying DD.
