Upcoming Memory Maker Price Increase

No surprise since it's now part of the AP pricing and is getting rolled into vacation packages. If you look at all the trends, I truly believe it is in Disney's intent to make it an "All inclusive" pricing destination, like Sandals or Beaches. Pay one price for your resort, meals, tickets, and photos. That way they are ensuring 90% of their guests will meet a minimum revenue mark and it will be known well in advance. The current model isn't far from that now.

Sadly, I think you're right, and this has been discussed in previous Spirited threads.

The problem with that is that anyone who doesn't fit into the model of "family staying on Disney property in a Disney resort for 7 days" usually comes out the loser.

Even then I question the value statement now. I considered WDW my first choice for vacations for many, many years. Even bought into DVC to ensure competitive pricing for deluxe resort stays. While that is still a value compared to the rack rate, everything else is sky rocketing up so much, I can't help but question the decision to go every year. The deals are plentiful for non-DVC owners. But reduced discounts on tickets (or APs), dining, etc. really drives our costs up. Obviously Disney is working to create a model where "you may have saved on the room Mr. DVC owner, but we'll make it up else where." That way everyone is paying the same price across the board.

It's a pretty scary prospect, isn't it?

We purchased the memory maker at the reduced 'early bird' pricing. It was the first time we ever used photopass at all. I remember saying after just one day that it was money well spent. Just scan ur magicband and that's it. I have about 150 pics and 10 or so vidos. I did take my own pics as well, but the group pics and effects are sooo much better than what I could do. Obviously, the longer the stay, more value, but for us, four days of pics and ride pics AND video was well worth it!!!

memorymaker is a blanket digital purchase of all your photopass AND on-ride photos. You get digital downloads of all your photos. The add-on of the on-ride photos is the key difference from your classic photopass experience.

The old model was to pre-pay for the CD to get all your photos on photopass without having to buy one by one... now you get the equivalent plus on-ride photos
And on ride videos.
