Upcoming Jaws rehab

Isn't this ride always closed or seasonal now? Jaws didn't work right on opening day (neither did much else, but anyway) and every subsequent time I went on, it was still malfuntioning. They should've done away with this instead of King Kong.

it didn't work under the old design but it was redesigned and I've ridden it three times this year and as far as I could tell it was working fine each time. The new design is much more stable than the old design. Kong was actually a less reliable ride than Jaws was, especially under the new design.

Speaking of not working right on opening day... Disneyland anyone? :lookaroun

Jaws is open everyday as far as I know. I don't know if they're still doing it, but for a while they were doing a late open (around noon). I should probably find out in case anyone asks...

They attempted to actually close the ride a few years back and there was such a huge uproar about it from the friends that they decided not to in the end.

We just got back from Universal this month and I thought Jaws was working very well. All of the shark encounters were functioning properly. I will admit that I think the Jaws ride is a good ride. Given the trend toward virtual ride technology and interactive game play, I think Jaws serves as a good contrast of a story based ride with animatronics that's outdoors (which is pretty rare).

Went on it tonight....looks great, lots of new stuff and paint all around. Just remember to not sit on the far right of row six. :dazzle:

lol about row 6. Everything has been repainted. The sharks have new skins and teeth. I believe the shark in the boathouse now has a comping effect as well. There are brand new flame effects in the attraction. There is more of the sunken boat floating about, and yes, there is the new water effect which hits the right hand side of row 6.

Love Jaws! First encounter was at Universal Hollywood in the 80s.....scared the crud out of my younger brothers!
My students only get one day at Uni and they usually persuade me to do IOA, but this year I'm headed to US. Haven't been on Mummy since before it officially opened....rode it while they were still fine tuning it.......it was fantastic......and a refurbed Jaws?!:sohappy: DD (13) is on a serious autograph and pressed penny hunt at US this year also and feels that she can rack up at US better than at IOA.

39 days until we are Orlando bound with 21 teens on a school bus for 930 miles of smiles:hammer:
