I‘ve recently been struck with just an insane amount of creativity juice ;) and this has expressed itself in more than a few ways (expect updates to my Epcot thread soon) but one of them was this concept for a 5th gate which was inspired by a great recent episode of The Marty Called Podcast (hosted in part by @RSoxNo1 ). So after about a week of thoughts flowing through my head I made a basic first draft plan of a park themed to music and located North of Coronado Springs.

DLPPhantom Proudly Presents
Disney’s Untitled Music Themed Park

Infrastructure

Before one can discuss the attractions inside the park one most note the infrastructure built too support the park. Most exciting is the expansion of the Skyliner system. Beginning with a new hub at the Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort with lines to a station at the front of the new park in the Northwest, a line to a new Animal Kingdom station to the Southwest, and a line with a turn station and a station on Crescent Lake replacing the Dance Hall. With the Skyliner Expansion 10 of the Walt Disney World Hotels will be able to access the new park without a road based vehicle. But cars and buses will also be able to access the new park via an entrance off of World Drive just North of the Epcot Center Drive exit. A large parking lot will also be constructed comparable in size to the one at the Animal Kingdom and about 100 acres.

Silly Symphony Square

The first land in the park serves as the Main Street of the park and includes retail and dining themed to characters from the classic Walt Disney Shorts. For example a Café themed to the Tortoise and the Hare, a snack location themed to the Old Mill, a bathroom themed to King Midas featuring golden toilets and sinks, and a retail store ran by the Three Little Pigs with 3 distinct sections, one of straw, one of wood, and one of brick.

Fantasia Gardens

This area is a sister of the Gardens of Imagination land located at Shanghai Disneyland and features lush greenery and a few small attraction. The first of these attractions is the Fantasia Carousel which is a cloned attraction from Shanghai. The second is a spinner ride called the Mushroom Dance where guests ride mushrooms and dance like in the sugar plum fairy segment of Fantasia. Another attraction is a musical fountain show which makes use of the nighttime spectacular infrastructure during the day. Lastly is the twin Ferris Wheels that make up the icon of the Park Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat and his ears.

South America

In this land guest can find a variety of attractions based on some of the most popular stories the Walt Disney Animation Studio has ever told. Firstly is an animatronic revue staring the Three Caballeros. Secondly is a launched spinning coaster based on the Emperor’s New Groove. The ride is similar to Crush‘s Coaster with the more advanced ride system of Silver Dollar City’s Time Traveler. Lastly is an E-Ticket trackless dark ride thru the Madrigals’ Casita from Encanto. This musical journey is similar in scope to the Enchanted Tales of Beauty and the Beast from Tokyo Disneyland And features a new story created exclusively for the ride.

North America
900w-600h_100920_Soul-Concept-Art_27.jpg

The North America area puts a spotlight on the urban culture and music of cities like New York, San Francisco, and Toronto. The New York section of the land is the largest and contains two headliner attractions, an Enchanted Musical with Broadway quality sets and musical arrangements located in a massive and gorgeous theater with multiple show times a day and a 4D movie inspired by the Pixar movie Soul where guests are transported to the Great Before along with characters from the film. The second area of the land is themed to San Francisco and on opening day would only include retail and dining option. Lastly is Toronto which features a hybrid meet & greet and show, like Enchanted Tales with Belle, featuring Mei Lee the Red Panda Girl and her friends from Turning Red.

Also Technically apart of this land is the luxurious Disney’s Metropolis Resort. A hotel which like Mira Costa Resort and Tokyo Disney Sea makes up the skyline of the North America land and has magnificent views of the park.

Asia
Mulan-2-concept-art-mulan-35867050-1394-746.jpg

The Asia land is also separated into different areas to showcase separate cultures in this case there is and area inspired by Chinese culture and and area inspired by Arabian culture. The Chinese area features one of the parks signature restaurants overlooking the lake that separates the North America and Asia lands and a musical stunt show based on the 1998 film Mulan in an indoor theater. In the Arabian area is an Aladdin Magic Carpet dark ride where guests fly over the iconic scenes from the animated movie and a Genie themed swing ride featuring swing renditions of songs from the movie.

Europe
scale

The Europe land is broken into two areas as well one based on Ancient Greece and another based on a medieval Eastern European village. In the Greece area is a spinner ride like Dumbo themed to Pegasus from the movie Hercules and a boat ride like Frozen Ever After themed to the story of Disney’s Hercules. The Eastern European village is built at the base of the park’s main thrill ride Night on Bald Mountain, an entirely enclosed roller coaster ride where guests are lured into the clutches of the pagan demon Chernabog. This ride features multiple inversions and is paced in time with the icon piece of music.

That’s the idea for what the opening day program of the park would look like but if you look closely on the map I drew you can see I did have some ideas for what a phase two of the park would look like and will post a more detailed look at those ideas and a more in depth look at a few of the attractions soonish.

Interesting idea, it sounds similar to WestCOT, with the idea of the 4 corners of the World. Which would have included the Americas, Africa/Middle East, Asia, and Europe. It even has a similar layout to the never built park.

Here's a list of musical movies which seem to work...

Silly Symphonies
Fantasia
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Mary Poppins
The Muppets
A Goofy Movie
Princess and the Frog
Moana
Coco
Soul
Encanto
John Williams movies (like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and more)

Plus you could do some combo attractions (similar to The Great Movie Ride). Because afterall most of Disney's animated movies have music in them.

Disney's Princesses (featuring hit songs "Tale as old as time" and "A Whole New World")
Disney's Villains (ft "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and "Gaston")
Disney's Pixar (ft "You Got a Friend in Me" and "Big Blue World")
Disney's Wild (ft "Bear Necessities" and "Circle of Life")

Yeah, now that you point it out it is a lot like WESTCOT, I think this park would probably have a more fantastical representation of each of these continents and cultures due to EPCOT already representing some of them in a more realistic light, but overall the theme of the park is about human culture and our language of music.

As for franchises that could have attractions built in the park, basically any franchise and characters could be added to the park as long as the lens in which we view these characters is through a form of music. I tried to pick more recent franchises and ones that I believed were under represented at Disney World like Soul, Enchanted, Hercules. However, an early draft of the park had a Star Wars area which was accessed through a concert hall in the North America land and unlike Galaxies Edge was constantly under scored by John Williams music.

I've been trying to work this exact concept out for a while, so it's nice to see someone else's perspective.

I really like most of you ideas, but it doesn't really feel like a music park. Maybe it's because you're limiting yourself to Disney properties, but it seems to be more of a park based around the stories of different cultures than it does music (with a few exceptions.) Maybe branching out into music not attached to media, or focusing more on the music of the films referenced rather than straight story retellings or set pieces would help this feel more like an actual music park.

The way I was going about it was to base the lands around genres and use a mix of different bands and properties as attractions/ eateries/ shops. I have a map somewhere I can dig out if you're interested.

A music park has a ton of potential, but you have to be careful to have enough focus on the music itself.

Maybe my title was a little confusing but the way I went about thinking about this was taking the popular franchises that someone like Chapek would mandate are present in a 5th park and finding someway to make a coherent theme for the park that matches the style of the existing WDW parks I landed on music for being the umbrella that all these stories fall. AK is the Nature park, DHS is the movie park, and this 5th gate is the music park. Think of it like Early Disney MGM Studios where the movie making angle was used as a way to put guests into the movies At some attractions and more literally in others.

Also I remember reading that hard rock park thread at some point. There were a lot of really cool and kind of out there creative ideas that definitely would have made for a really entertaining park.

You could also have attractions like "Tiki Room", "Country Bear Jamboree" ,"America Sings" and "Mickey Mouse Revue". They are great animatronic shows that are both Disney and Music related.

I like to see Manhattan Melodies broadway musical from The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) in New York section.
Now that you’ve said it a Great Moments in History type show inspired by Muppets Take Manhattan on the upper levels on some of the New York Facades would be a perfect fit for the park.

Or we can use a Broadway theater for Manhattan Melodies show if you want.

Oh yeah, Fantasia could probably have it’s own section. Like they were going to do at Animal Kingdom. With of course the never built boat ride.

Man I wish they built it, but it does seem to fit in your music park even more though. Because of the classic music and dance numbers with anthropomorphic animals.

Some ideas:

* A new Mickey Mouse Revue with the more dated characters and music swapped out, with new pieces like “Aloha E Komo Mai” added in. The animatronics have also been modernized.
* Ask a deal with Sega and/or Crush 40 for the Turning Red attraction to have authentic music pieces of the era (I.e. Open Your Heart)
* A ride based around the “Lost Chords” (the various deleted songs of Disney films)
* Phineas and Ferb. They had a musical number in every episode, remember?
* More original IP.

You could definitely do a "Princess and the Frog" show, similar to "Frozen" in California. Louis' main storyline in the film is all about him trying to get into a human band.

Also I didn't really like the movie, but "Soul" seems like a perfect music based movie for your park. Even if it's just used as Streetmosphere.

IP-based Streetmosphere, as much as I hate to say it, will keep streetmosphere alive.

I'm not sure how Emperor's New Groove relates to the theming of music. But I’d love to hear more about it. Since it is a very underrated movie from the dark times of Disney (the early 2000's). And it doesn’t get much love in any of the parks except for a random appearance here and there.
