Unsettling “security” checks.

I'm not concerned over privacy and already willingly accept that between my MB and CCTVs hidden every 3 square feet in public spaces, WDW sees and knows my family thoroughly. For better and worse, we feel safer in the bubble because they are so bent on security.

It would me off to have our afternoon nap interrupted. I can imagine just falling asleep, being disturbed and unable to fall asleep again. That makes me wonder... will they mind if my family decides to be nudists during naptime? LOL

What would they do if we stood naked to watch them take the garbage?

More realistically I'd rather just request they don't enter the room between 2-4pm on a couple of our days. That'd probably make them choose those exact hours to infiltrate.

Where is this privacy intrusion ? If you read the terms and conditions of your contract with Disney (and an expanding number of hotel chains) there will be a section about this. If you are unhappy about these terms then don't stay at Disney. It is that simple.
There is a vocal minority that are shouting about their loss of freedoms. The sensible majority work with the hotel and have no bad experience.
No one is arguing that Disney is violating people's Constitutional rights or doing something otherwise illegal. Of course Disney has the right to have this policy and of course you have the option to stay elsewhere. That's not the point.

The point is that as customers of the Disney Resort hotels, some of us are upset that we are not being afforded the level of privacy in our hotel rooms at Disney as we were before. We are expressing our dissatisfaction as customers of Disney in the hopes that they change their policy, just as customers do all the time.

It won't change. It is part of the world we live in nowadays. Is it. Good thing . Not in my opinion but it won't change. Same as airline security changed . That isn't going back to how it was either and that inconveniences far more people.

And I now do stay elsewhere! We got back early from the parks I got in the shower and my husband went to grab us food. When I got out of shower, completely nude there was a strange man in my room. Haven't stayed on property since. Next week my hubz booked us at the poly for my birthday I am not happy
As in someone who worked at the hotel?

We were changing clothes for dinner my husband butt naked when two disney cast entered without knocking my husband the clown he is just stood there grinning but they DID go thru our backpack on hook by door and two Wal-Mart bags so they do go thru oh and they FORGOT the trash they said they were there For. We laughed at their embarrassment of my hubby so guess we're even lol
I did turn my nanny cam footage of their ransacking of it to HR and got a call and apology and told they were not to go thru our bags and will be reprimanded (spelling sorry)
I'm curious, since I've never stayed at a Disney property--don't they have locks/chains/something from the inside that would actually prevent a random person coming in? In EVERY hotel I've stayed, there's some sort of mechanism that you control from the inside for extra security.

They do, but that doesn't mean people use it. I don't unless I'm going to sleep for the night. In fact, if you're in the room and thinking about napping while other people are out and about, you probably shouldn't. We've had to cut a few chains over the years when the person in the room is too deeply asleep or is passed out drunk to let in their spouse/kid/whoever.

After the knee jerk reaction was gone (took a while) with flying, things did change. They dialed things back. We were profiled less and what you could bring evolved to more reasonable levels. Then they brought in things like pre check where it's close to what we had before.

The attitude that things cannot change and not letting them know how it affects us will be the only reason they won't dial it back or offer alternatives. Things most certainly can and do change. To me *that* is a good thing.

Being drunk and passing out is vastly different. We always use the chain/latch if we are in the room, and have for years. Sure it means if there is only 2 of us I won't hop in the shower while they are gone, but it is easy enough to work around.
