Unsanitary situations in WDW

My "Disney park bag" always contains a supply of individually-packaged sanitizing wipes, for this very reason! I'm not vigilant enough to use them on rides, but every time we stop to eat a meal or snack, everybody's hands, and the table, get a little wipe-down before anything goes into our mouths! :)

Apparently Ebola is the Chuck Norris of viruses... even though it isn't supposed to live outside of bodily fluids it seems to have managed to sneak past all the security to infect the nurse in a Spanish hospital treating the sick priest, it seems to have managed to swim from Africa to Macedonia to infect some British dude that has never set foot in Africa... All in All I would have to think the Ebola Virus gargles Purell and spits Clorox.
There was a report that the nurse in Spain stupidly touched her nose with her gloved hand. Also, latest reports from Macedonia suggest that the guy who died there didn't have ebola.

Now when you consider that, does an old paper towel dispenser really seem all that bad? At least the people that are touching it had the decency to wash their hands prior to touching it.

Actually, about half of those people just rinse their hands off and THEN get their paper towels..

I've seen that too, it only takes another minute more to use some soap...
I don't use the soaps in public restrooms. I am 4+ allergic the fragrances. I do use a lot of hot water and vigorous scrubbing action. Followed by hand sanitizer. I am confident that my hands are suitably clean.

Does Purell kill Ebola?

I don't think any sanitiser has any affect on viruses, bacteria yes, viruses no. The same goes for antibiotics.

And then they go and install these....

I don't see any inherent issue with the Dyson Hand Driers....however, all to often they are not properly/ever cleaned which over time does then look disgusting. Other more traditional models aren't really hygenic as they blow the water droplets to the floor and around the room, but people think they are cleaner because there is no accumulation on the drier itself.

Personally I hate all the paper towel waste from hand drying.....really wish Disney would set an example by eliminating paper towels for hand drying. Thousands of trash bags of waste accumulated daily just from hand drying, environmental madness.

Am I right in thinking that Universal has hand driers in just about every location? I think they still generally have paper towels available, but their usage is vastly decreased when hand driers are installed.

I don't mind hand dryers at all except the ones that are so loud that in 10 years they will find out like everything else that they weren't as great as everyone thought because we all have hearing loss. Maybe they are louder for me because I am short, but some of them really hurt my ears when standing by them.

Paper is not only biodegradable, but it is also can be recycled. The paper towel you used last year, might be the same one you used this year. Air hand dryers on the other hand (tee hee) use electricity that uses fossil fuels to generate. I'll take the hand towels every time if I'm concerned about the environment.

The voice of reason has spoken.

Besides, doesn't Disney recycle almost all paper, plastic, and glass that is thrown away at the park?

And from what I have seen, and personally done, when both electric and paper are available, electric is used and then when it doesn't do the job, paper is used. So actually electric dryers are more damaging to natural resources than just providing paper.

And to make bad matters worse, most paper towels dispensers now require electricity to even operate!

And I need the paper towel to open the
Bathroom door.

Yes, Universal does have the hand dryers now in most locations. Although when I was there a few weeks ago a lot of them were out of order. :(

This was really strange. One visit all of them didn't work, the next they were fine. I thought it had to do with aliens and government conspiracy, but apparently no one else has an imagination (Haven't they seen Figment?). Well, anyway, I wonder why all of them would be turned off one day and be fine the next. Very strange.

It was aliens, I'm sure of it.
