Unsanitary situations in WDW

I saw someone change a diaper on a table at Pecos Bills. Half the family was still eating.

I'm still a bit horrified.

I'm pretty sure this has happened at every restaurant on property at some point in time. I caught someone doing it at a very popular TS location.

That was probably a Palmetto bug. We have them where we live, and I think you can find them in the Carolinas as well.

Yes cockroaches are everywhere here in South Carolina.. But, they're cleaner than flies. They groom themselves. :p

Does Purell kill Ebola?
No. Purell does a good job against bacteria, but is not really effective against viruses. Washing your hands with any old soap and water is far more effective at removing virus from your hands than using Purel. To actually 'kill' viruses (which aren't technically alive, but whatever) you need bleach.

We constantly use hand sanitizer when in situations where we need to tough things in public. For some reason I think the guns and control stick in BLSRS is probably the worst on property for germs. Would not be such a germaphobe if not for seeing so many leave restrooms without washing their hands. Is it really that hard to do?

I'm one who besides washing my hands after a visit to the throne I don't really worry about germs and bacteria. It's something that we really don't realize how much is around us in any given day. On that note, I rarely ever get sick but when I do it's usually severe.

Besides gross human habits I've not seen much on the part of TDO that screems unclean. I've seen families changing babies at restruant tables and actually saw CMs come up and ask them to move to a bathroom.

Splash mountain is a mystery to me. I have no idea why the water smells like it does. I think it's chemical more so than guests with incontinence when water hits them.

Frankly anywhere you go that is a public venue with crowds you are going to find germs and mold somewhere!

You best defense from getting sick is use a little common sense and wash yours hands.

Exactly - most of the stories told here are no worse than what you can see on a daily basis at the mall, the movie theater, and even in church.

Sure Disney, just like any theme park, is going to be germ-central. Disney does do just about as good a job as any park in the world at keeping it visible clean, but I mean yeah when you have 10s of thousands of people passing through a park in any given day, things are going to get a little dirty. If you start thinking about everything that everyone touches (like the joysticks on Mission Space) or things like that, you will drive yourself crazy. Ignorance is bliss sometimes :)

Best thing to do is to remember to thoroughly wash your hands every chance you get, but especially before eating something. As far as the Purell, I do think people (healthy people w/ no immune system issues) can get a bit carried away with it. Our hands have naturally bacteria on them that help protect us from bad bacteria. Hand sanitizers don't discriminate and kill nearly all bacteria on your hands. Some of that stuff is there for a reason!

There are times when a little Purell helps, like if you're nowhere near soap and water, but I nothing replaces simple soap and water.

I have seen people actually go into a room to "relieve" themselves. How disgusting is that?
I'm just an old-fashioned individual and use the woods surrounding the parks, just like our forefathers did.

They are pretty gross looking but really are just looking for water. I've found them at disney as well and I just go ahead and kill them. Now I'm not trying to sound smart or tell you not to tell disney, because they should really have trappers out. I just wanted you to know what they are ^^ They are much larger and rounder than roaches, but they still are dirty.

I guess I should share my story lol. So one day about 3 or 4 years ago we were at DHS for our last day and we hadn't seen that little Phineas and Ferb show. So we are watching this show and taking pictures on our phones for our friends and there is this woman next to us (we were leaning on the railing near the muppets exit.) with a rental stroller.

You know, the strollers you can get if you forgot one or didn't bring one. Yeah one of those so, she opens her bag up and starts taking out bread, cold cuts, tomatos ect. Well, guess what she does? She starts making a sandwitch in the germ infested rental stroller.. I think my dad got a photo but it was on his old phone.. It was crazy though! And pretty gross.. I guess she thought it was clean.

We have them here too, on my first encounter with them I thought I was meeting the one from WALL*E it was so big/"perfect"... but they ARE in fact a species of roach, just bigger and like damp places (as you said): http://www.orkin.com/cockroaches/difference-between-a-cockroach-and-a-palmetto-bug/ uggggghhhhh

My biggest pet peeve (this applies anywhere not just at WDW but the behavior seems to be an especially rampant there) is when males use the bathroom stalls instead of the urinals to pee and do not lift up the seat. Really? How hard is it to lift up the seat so that the person who actually has to sit down and use the toilet after you does not have to sit in your pee? Even if you think it is gross to have to touch the seat with your hand, you could grab a piece of tp and lift it up with that. Cuz it is far more disgusting for me to have to wipe your from the toilet seat and sit down knowing there is still urine residue there. This seems to be especially problematic in the MK. Maybe because there may be more kids in attendance there? I don't know but it definitely makes the most magical place on earth a bit less magical for me.

Also hear you on the changing the diaper on the restaurant table. Saw a women do that at the Electric Umbrella. Just about lost my lunch. I don't get it. Were these people raised in a barn?

Yep, they are a species of roach. I guess most people think they are German Cockroaches, but those guys are tiny and dark in coloring. Palmetto bugs are still gross though :(

I just wanted everyone to know the difference. I've seen Palmetto bugs in Mk, but that doesn't mean that it's dirty. They are just looking for moisture. Most of the time when I see them, it's when I put the water on in the shower.
