Unofficial Guide or Birnbaum's

I have a book store gift card that is burning a hole in my pocket. We're not planning a trip until the end of 2013, but I thought I'd use my gift card on a new WDW book anyway. I've got my sister's old copy of Unofficial Guide from 2009, but it's almost got too much info and too many personal anecdotes. Is Birnbaum's any better? I already own The Hidden Magic of WDW and the Complete Idiot's guide from 2012.

Thanks!

After flipping through both at the book store I ended up ordering Birnbaums off amazon. It was $6 cheaper than the store plus no tax and I have free two-day shipping

I say both. And, "Unofficial", last time I checked anyway, also has a VERY nice picture accompaniment that you can purchase separately (nice marketing, guys ;)). Best of fluff, best of the other stuff.
Then, you make the call...! :)

Birnbaum's is Disney's book, so it has tons of cute pics and is super peppy. It's a fun book and has descriptions of rides that really make you want to ride them. :) Planning info, though, is kind of lacking and what they give is sometimes waaay off base.

The Unofficial Guide is jam packed with fantastic info, but lacks the cute pics.

The UG people put out a Color Companion that doesn't get all bogged down with tons of info, but gives a little that is very helpful. It also has really cute pics. It's the best of both worlds, IMO.

The Passporter lacks the cuteness of the Birnbaum and the thorough info of the UG. It has its fans, but I don't recommend it.

I like the unofficial guide. It give you honest opinions without the "official" Birmbaums Disney approved kool-aid. If something is not as good as the next, the unofficial guide will tell you. The official guide is good for a basic description of every ride restaurant and resort, but don't expect an honest opinion only an official one.
