universal's nye celebrations!!

hey, we're planning on being at universal over the new year (we're staying on site at the hard rock) for about 5 days. does anyone have any previous experience of nye (and the build up to it) at usf/ioa? last time we were in the states over the new year was during the millenium and we spent nye at epcot so i'm really looking forward to seeing how universal does it!!

also, will all the christmas decorations and celebrations still be in place?

any info, opinions etc would be greaty appreciated!!

The Christmas Decorations are up until New Year's Day. The Macy's Holiday Parade and Grinchmas run from Dec 5th - Jan 1st. I haven't been on New Year's Eve, but I do know that they do have a DJ stage set up in front of Mel's.

The big party is in Citywalk and they have a special concert there that costs extra. They should be making an announcement soon on who the performer will be and the cost to attend.

i checked on the universal website but they haven't released any info yet...i did see that both parks are closed by 11pm though which i was a bit dissappointed in...i thought they might've stayed open for longer for nye!!

i couldn't find any universal boards that seemed as active as this, does anyone have any suggestions?

As Timeman stated, there will be a DJ out in CityWalk that goes well into the night. The Macy's Parade is a good parade to watch.

We have spent New Year's in Orlando for the past 6 years in a row now and I was thinking back to the performers that US has had through the years.

I seem to remember the following performers from years past (cant remember order or which year)

Earth, Wind and Fire
Cheap Trick
Tone Loc

Its a separate ticket to be able to see the show. I think it also provides some food and a glass of champagne at midnight.
