universal is a waste of money and time what they should do is tear down universal and add on to ioa with more coasters and rides:slurp:

Bear,

I think what Maria meant was that there is a difference between "waste", and "waist"...

Waste is like a dump...

Waist is the area above your hips...right? :hammer:

Well... I dont know too much about waste... I went to IOA and did everything but the water rides within 3 hours...

I really think you missed some stuff on that. Either that or you are a serious adrenaline junkie.....

Not everyone wants or likes coasters. With two parks catering for different tastes I think its ok.
One suggestion for improvement - a one day ticket entitles you to visit BOTH parks on the same day.

Well, if you're referring to the "Boffo and socko" attractions that they announced, they haven't been built yet (Shrek, Jimmy, and whatever replaces Kong):hammer:

...and I am guessing that English is not Maria's first language.

I will be generous and guess that Bear is completely fluent in his native language....

Places have brochures with descriptions, numbers, maps, of rides for every theme park in Florida. Why didn't you know what you were going for before hand?

Why didn't you just go to IOA?

No, actually you would be wrong. She's correct about the spelling. Look it up in a dictionary.

Personally I love Universal... And IOA.

But think about it this way, if USF hadn't been built then, in all likelihood, there would have been no Islands of Adventure.

IOA benefitted enormously from the pre-existing infrastrure of the USF; Roads, parking, etc. Yes, some of this was enhanced to provide for IOA, but do you think it would have been built if they were starting from scratch?

Now how would you like it if Disney just said, "oh, Disneyland is boring now. Let's tear it down and replace it."

id go nuts if I heard that! A better idea to improve older parks is not to tear them down, but to replace and improve older attractions in the park. That is pretty much what I hear Universal is planning on doing.

But I actually really liked Univeral Studios last time I was there. ET kicks !!

I was at Universal at the end of 2000 with a friend visiting Orlando, and we both bought two-day tickets and did IOA for most of one day and then went into the Studios for a couple of hours and I was really disappointed (It didn't help that I'd recently been to US Hollywood, which is so much better).
I didn't return until this summer when I bought a two-year pass for the price of one, and was pleasently surprised. Although there were no real changes, the place seemed much better than I remembered. Perhaps it was because there were more people around or because it was summer and not winter (it was freezing cold), but I am now a convert.
Certainly USO is not a waste of money, but I guess that it's a case of each to their own (horses for courses for my British compatriots - no-one here seems to know that cliche  ).

Thats the problem with IOA....they have a few awsome rides but the rest of the park kind of lacks......no good shows, no good resturants....and that is the area where Disney excells and Universal could take a lesson...the overall experience.....I mean if Disney ever creates a park with a few Hulk and Spider-man type rides (which I think it eventually will) Universal will have a serious attendance problem

My Wife and I did Universal and IOA and hated it we left and went to Disney to do some RESORT HOPPING. We had more fun doing that than being at Universal. I always said that I would never go back there, but my Son loves Shrek so I will go one more time when the Shrek attraction opens
:snore:

Then I will never go again.

Each to their own I guess.
