USH raised its ticket prices. The one-day ticket got an $8 increase, making the price $92, the same price Disneyland's one-day ticket holds.

There's a rumor going around that a Back to the Future show will be featured in the Studio Tour's nighttime version next year, recreating the scene where Marty goes back to the future. This would promote the film's 30th anniversary. If this turns out to be true, not only will I be very happy, but all the hardcore BthF fans will be as well, and they will flock to the park. We'll see what happens.

I hope this comes to pass - sounds much more interesting than the Fast & Furious 360 3D thing. We were at Universal a few weeks ago and considered buying a pass, but realized there just isn't enough there yet to get us to come back repeatedly - it's a really small park and most of the attractions are film-based. Once Potter opens in 2016, we will be all over those Premium passes, to be sure.

Definitely not worth the price. They really need to do a lot to get at least on par with Universal Studios Florida. The studio Tour is nice, though.

USH isn't supposed to be on par with Orlando because it's a movie studio first, theme park second. USF is just a theme park.

If you buy a one-day ticket (at USH), you can come for free for the rest of the year. I think it's worth it.

Yes, USH is a studio first, but then it shouldn't charge as a full theme park, should it?

I didn't know they allowed you to come back all year, though. When I went last year, I paid for one day and could not come back (I wouldn't have gone back anyway. I had a very bad customer service experience with them).

They're not charging solely as a full theme park, they're charging as a theme park and a studio.

Have you ever taken a studio tour elsewhere in Los Angeles? They go for about $50+. So say USH charges $50+ dollars for their tour. Technically, they're only charging $30 or $40 to see the theme park part.

That explains it. I didn't know other studio tours charged that much.

The Warner Brothers studio tram tour in Burbank is $54.00 per person, and it's noted as being two hours long. You reserve a time, pay your 54 bucks, and take the two hour tour and then leave.

The Sony Pictures studio tour is $38.99 per person, and it's noted as being 90 minutes long. But it's not a tram tour, it's a walking tour only.

I think Universal offers a pretty solid day and the ticket price is justified. That's only going to get better w/ the addition of Harry Potter. The only problem w/ Universal is that it doesn't have the same drive for repeat visits that DLR has, hence the reason they typically offer the 'buy a day, get a year' deal which IMO is a pretty amazing deal if you are a local. I live 10 min from the studio vs. about an hour/hour & a half from DLR so would be great to have more of a reason to go there.

Exciting to hear about the night tour. My problem with Universal has always been that it closes far too early and is never a place you can go to spend an evening. Sounds like that will be changing if they are going to offer a special night version of the tour. Looking forward to that!!

Lol..what's that even mean? Universal has been pouring a ton of $$$ into the park since opening Transformers a few years ago and offers an AP for the price of a day ticket. (or $139 w/ no blackout dates). Not sure where that statement comes from...

That's one of things I like about Universal over Disney. They offer affordable annual passes.

Not to go off topic but I've been on both of these multiple times and they are both great. The WB one is more impressive and comprehensive, but both times on the Sony one our guide went out of his way to take us through soundstages and sets of movies being filmed, which was very cool.
