Universal Sinbad Stunt Show Closing / Future of Indy?

So it’s been announced that the Universal Sinbad Stunt Show is closing September 15. What does this mean for the Indy stunt show in DHS? Lights, Motor, Action has already closed to make way for SW:GE. Are stunt shows dead?

While I'm sure the Indy stunt show will go away in the future just because of cost alone. (Not to mention the amount of space) You have to remember Universal (in their current 2 parks) also have a lack of space issue. Once could only guess that there will be more Harry Potter put into its place. I'm sure down the road we will sadly see Poseidon’s Fury close. I hope Sinbad get replaced by another stunt show but only time will tell.

I think this has more to do with IP and real estate than anything else. If it were a Harry Potter stunt show, it'd likely have been playing to capacity crowds on a consistent basis.

Except no one cares about Behind the Scenes anymore. It’s all about immersion. Indy is the only making-of attraction left at DHS.

Gone: Backlot tour, Lights Motor Action, even Streets of America to make way for SW:GE and TSL. GMR, while not behind the scenes, was a retrospective on movies. It’s replacement: a ride immersing you in a runaway train with Mickey and Friends.

I enjoy Indy but realistically I don’t think a stunt show based on an 80s IP can keep going much longer. That’s a lot of real estate that could be used for other attractions, restaurants, etc.

They killed the Sindbad show because Universal is tight on cash, the show was expensive to operate, and the GSATs were bad. The show was only playing to about 1600 people per day.

And Universal is building a Jason Bourne Stunt Show as we speak.

The problem with stunt shows is that after you've seen them once or twice and really taken them in, there's not much else.

In its nearly thirty years of daily operation, the only change IJESS has ever made is that TDO removed the swastikas from the plane.

Indiana Jones no longer fights Nazis. He's fighting German Soldiers. In the 1930s.

Who are totally NOT Nazis. They're just on Hitler's payroll. But totally NOT Nazis.

Not correct. Merian used to slide down a line from the top of the set to the stage. This was taken out a few years ago.

Not sorry for being pedantic, but... Walt Disney Presents and MV3D are still technically behind the scenes of movie making, even if one be a parody of such documentaries.

And RnRC is behind the scenes of a rock concert.

And don't the Citizens of Sunset Blvd. do making-movie schtick?

And the Commissary and Back Lot Express are 'back stage' eateries.

And the set in front of Star Tours is still staged as a stage set.

And Launch Bay is making of Star Wars with it's film and prop museum.

The Sinbad show was so bad I walked out on it. The theater was maybe 5/8 full. Maybe that is why it is closing. Indy is still packed every show. At least when I have been there. So,IMHO, I don't see Indy closing.

I think the constantly packed stadium for the Indy shows does show Disney that guests still want to see and appreciate the live action stunt features. Although the Indy scenario hasnt been updated and there hasnt been an Indy movie for a while, guests still connect enough with the character and plot to keep it as a DHS show. I dont think its going anywhere until Disney decides the land can be put to better use.

For the record, I like the Indy show too. Just wondering if WDW will be feeling pressure to remove it. Just look at Pandora and SW:GE. They’ve been reacting to Universal and Potter World rather than setting the agenda.

If WDW was reacting to Uni, they'd have built three new rides dependent on screens. Instead, we got SDD and Saucers and FEA. I'm not saying Disney isn't reacting to Uni, they always have (O HAI! MGM Studios!!), they're just not always reacting exactly the same way.

Indy is still packed every show. At least when I have been there. So,IMHO, I don't see Indy closing.

Packed shows mean nothing without proper context.......

If it were in a park with many attractions whereby guests have many choices to fill their day, then it means something. But Studios has a terribly limited lineup. And before this summer its menue offerings were like In- and- Out Burger(few).

Pretty damn easy for Disney to fill shows when its guests already rode the 4 rides (pre July)
