Universal likely to get Lord of the Rings theme park rights...

I think another reason why the "Christian" outlets "hyped" the movie was that it was family friendly. There was violence, for sure, but no cursing or anything close to nudity or $exual perversion.

I realize it is a novel concept to offer family friendly content in anything that comes out of Hollywood. I mean, it is not like family friendly could attract. . . families. If it did, I don't know, maybe someone would build a theme park that is attractive to families. If only . . .

In closing, the walrus was Paul.

That's completely unfounded. Christians only like family friendly films? The Passion of the Christ was the most disgustingly violent piece of filth ever put to camera and they all rushed out. That being said, the reason the Christians supported Narnia has nothing to do with it being family friendly. It is because Disney spent millions and millions of dollars marketing directly to the Christian community. They hired the same advertising firm as the producers of Passion did. It was being hyped in churches around the country. It's a dirty little secret but true. The Narnia books themselves are entertaining Christian propaganda but they are just as violent as the first few Potter films.

I take it that you are not a fan of "The Passion" or Narnia, eh?

Filth? Propoganda? Kinda harsh don't ya think?

I take it you do not like Veggie Tales either  , or 3-2-1 Penguins?

Narnia was just Disney's way of jumping on the fantasy/magic bandwagon following the success of Harry Potter and LOTR. Disney did it again with Bridge to Tarabithia. Disney just doesn't have the guts to be different than the competition lately. And when they do get an original success (Pirates) they drive it into the ground with overambitious sequels/marketing/merchandising/etc.

I would love for Universal to get LOTR. I am not really a Harry Potter fan but with that LOTR, Marvel, Seuss and Jurassic Park IOA would feel like something very special. It's a bit bitter sweet that the awesome layout of the Lost COntinent has to bite it tough.
