Universal Is getting a 3rd park

I have been reading a lot of posts here and I guess no one knows that Universal is getting a new park. I found this out about a year ago when I was at Islands of Adventure...They are In fact getting a 3rd park b/c i talked with a lot of the cast members there and they said that this is true. I also saw a huge amound of contruction work being done behind the Dueling dragons ride...Thats where all of the cast members said the new park will be...anyone heard this Imformation also?

now i don't mean to come off as a smart but there is no way a 3rd theme park would be built behind dueling dragons. unless universal bought dr. phillips HS and decided to bulldoze turkey lake rd there is no room what so ever. dueling dragons is smack dab next to turkey lake rd as is JPRA, and dont forget about IOA operations buildings are behind there as well. now i could see the 3rd theme park being built a little further down the road where there is something going on. what it is, i have no idea, but there seemed to be a lot of activity going on behind those green fences. :drevil:

if i had to guess as to what type of park it would be, i would say something to rival the magic kingdom. i picture hogwarts academy, hobbiton, great britian for the gadelic austin powers, nick at nite tv land, and possibly the fab five of classic horror movies. dracula, mummy, wolf man, creature from the black lagoon, and frankenstine and for a kiddie land why not use nick jr? those are just some of the things off the top of my head that would make incredible lands. now the big question...what in the hell kinda theme could come from all of these thrown in together? :lol: i have no idea. :hammer:

Wrong Dueling Dragons vacation junkie.

Yeah... it is true, heard it during orientation. It's not behind Dueling Dragons though... it's that nice big stretch of land that is next to IOA. I am just curious as to how people are going to get over there from the parking complex because they have to go past IOA in order to get there. Could we maybe see a Universal version of the monorail coming up?....... I want a MagLev.

EDIT-Oh, and Universal is trying to by D.P. They are willing to give OCPS the funds to build another school to replace it also.

They haven't yet... and the fact is that OCPS is holding out for a lot of money. The last number I heard a while ago was 8 million just for the school, plus the amount of money it would take to rebuild down the road.

I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I just think they need more hotels if they should do anything with the lttle amount of land they have left. I would much rather see a hotel than a park. Either that or make both if they'll fit.

actually, i believe that universal has another 2000+ acres that they have yet to use. that is enough for two more theme parks, hotels, golf courses, vacation club type recreation facilities and i think another citywalk type complex and maybe a on-site water park. this is all the land that they bought from lock heed martin. it kind of confuses me as to why they would want to purchase dr phillips HS since they have so much land already at their disposal. maybe it will be for new HR buildings, wardrobe dept. and employee parking... stuff like that. this way they could demolish the exsisting building and possibly expaned USF and maybe IOA.

IMO, i would not count on hearing of a 3rd park expansion until at least another 3+ years and then another 2-3 years for the park to be built. universal creative is probably just now entering blue sky phase of the proposed third park.

i agree that universal really need to work on building up both of the current parks, and that is what i see them doing. i cant wait for 2004!

Yes, a 3rd park is coming to Universal Orlando, and it will become a reality a hell of a lot sooner than WDW's 5th park ever will. It is still going to be a few years before an announcement is ever made though.

Uhh, you sure they won't talking about the 4th resort?

The place that we should all be watching is the 2000+ acres that Universal bought from Loews, where they are dilligently clearing out for future use...

Universal bought 2000+ acres from Lockheed-Martin, not Loews. Loews on the other hand, has committed to building at least two more resort hotels on Universal property however.

As for a third theme park... when it does happen, it won't be on current Universal property. The room isn't there. It will be on the Lockheed land off of I-Drive.

I don't know, from an ariel view UO it seems fairly landlocked with housing developements and indistrial, they would have to buyup and tear down a lot of structures to have a large enough area, it seem a little presumptive to build a 3rd park if the current ownership wanted to sell it off because theye weren't making enough profit

DOH! That was an awful brain cramp. Sure is a good thing these don't happen while I'm driving.

A 3rd Universal park? Is this for real? Man, we're gonna end up needing a month to go through every major thing in Orlando: 4 in WDW, 3 in US, plus water parks, Sea World, Busch Gardens, plus dinner shows... :eek:

DonickCo, I think it is the piece of property just north of the new convention center and just east of I-drive. If I'm looking at the map right, there is an area of buildings concentrated just north of the con. center that I THINK are the old Lockheed Martin factory buildings. The map I'm looking at is one of yours.

The map is at the bottom of the page. I think number 1 is the Convention Center. The land is just above that. But I could be comepletely off. :animwink:
