Universal in mid-April

My wife and I visited Universal in April of 2004, and we were out of there by 3 PM or so. And that was including stopping by IofA for a few minutes as well. Is this about how long it takes most people to complete the park?

The reason I ask is that we are planning a trip to WDW next April and I plan to visit Universal again. However, I am counting on being out of there anywhere from 3 PM to 5 PM in order to eat supper at one of the Disney restaraunts and then have the rest of the evening free for mini-golf, the pool, or just walking around the resort. Does this seem plausible? Especially if we want to be done by 3? Do most of you find yourselves wrapping things up around that time?

Do you plan on going to both Universal parks? If both, it would be tough to get out of there by 3pm unless you just care about seeing certain select attractions in each park.

If you are just going to one park or the other, it's definitley possible to finish up early, especially if you are there on a week day. Even the more attraction filled islands of adventure can be covered very well within about 5 hours. A couple years ago I got to Islands of Adventure right after it opened expecting to spend the entire day there. We ended up literally running out of things to do in the early afternoon. It's a good thing we got a park hopper for the price of a single park ticket, that way we were able to kill the rest of our day at the other park.

Overall, I think you can do it, especially if you are only doing one park. Good luck! There's no need to give the enemy any business for more than a half day anyway :animwink: .

Thanks for the reply. Speaking of parkhoppers, that brings up another question I had. I remember entering Islands of Adventure that day just long enough to try out one ride. I don't recall if I specifically purchased a parkhopper, or if all tickets are good for both parks in one day anyway. And if so, has that changed since 2004?

The last time I went, they were selling only parkhoppers (even for one day). I think this might have been a special promotion, though. But whatever the case may be, they do sell one day park hoppers and they wouldn't cost much extra than an individual one park/one day ticket. When you buy your tickets, make sure you ask about one day park hoppers if that's what you want.

What about lines? Are they pretty busy in mid April, or can you just walk onto most of the rides?
