Universal Hours

We are planning a trip to Universal April 18-25 and see that they recently reduced hours on every single day of our trip. Saturday, April 18, is now 9AM-9PM (previously was 9AM-10PM) while the rest of the week is mostly 9AM-6PM (previously was 9AM-7PM).

Although I've seen these hours for slow periods (such as late January), I don't think I've every seen Universal close so early (6PM) for the regular season. Are others seeing the same type of hours reductions for other time periods?

I've heard from a few sources that park attendance is not down that much but that people are cutting back on their vacation costs (e.g. staying at less expensive hotels). Therefore, I suppose they are doing this to save money. Any other ideas what's going on?

I don't know why they would be closing earlier on the 18th, but the reason they are closing at 5pm on the 25th is because on that night stating at 7pm it will be open to only Graduating Seniors so they need to get everybody else out before then and this gives them a good two hours to clear out the park.

But like you I noticed that they are closing earlier then they did last year. I know that last year during the summer they would start closing at 10pm in late June, but this year they are closing the parks at 9pm thru at least the end of July.
