I guess... I get why you were upset with the responses from other people here but you've never been there. I'm not a potter fan but that ride is insanely good regardless of the star.. I guess I just am beyond trying to let disney recapture my attention since I'm not a little girl I have nothing g to do there that is new anymore.. beside pork shanks...

Pork shanks?

The Universal time would have been more for me than anyone else. My daughter would have loved to go, but she is in college and has a baby. No time for vacations right now. Let me ask you this, If you had to choose, which would you go for...

1) a 1 day - 2 park ticket and hit all of the HP stuff

or

2) a 1 day 1 park. But which park?

Is there really a need for an Express Pass in October at Universal? I am thinking of spending a couple of days there next year when we go, but I don't want to spend all of my time in lines.

That was my question too, but for a weekend in November. We would like to do one day, park hopper. If we add in the express pass, that's close to $800. Yikes!!!!

I spent 3 days at Uni last November, the Sun-Tues before Thanksgiving, and the first weekend in April this year. We have annuals but did not buy express passes. In November we stayed at the Royal Pacific and therefore had unlimited express pass. I would estimate that it saved us about 90 minutes of lines per day, so I was glad we had it, but the trip wouldn't have been ruined without it. The attractions with decent lines that we were able to skip included Minion Mayhem, Spider-Man, Transformers, RipRideRocket and Mummy. But even so, none of the waits would have been terribly long without EP.

In April, no express pass and virtually everything (including Forbidden Journey) was a walk-on. The only thing we waited more than 10 minutes for was Minion Mayhem.

Sounds promising. Thanks for the info. :)

I'm going to skip it because I have about one or maybe two days out of our trip to spend at the Universal parks. This is why I don't go to Kings Island or any other amusement park because I'm not going to go and spend 3 hours standing in line for an attraction and waste my entire day.

By the looks of your double ?? quote I see you don't approve. Now I'm confused (??) about why it matters to you so much?
While I'm sure that DiagonAlley will have huge lines in October, Hogsmeade will have virtually nothing, I suspect. In April, on a weekend with good weather, my family walked onto to FJ, Hippogriff, and Dragon Challenge (which does have EP). Ollivander's had a line but not a huge one. And we even got a Butterbeer without a wait, a major accomplishment. If you hit Ollivander's right at opening (particularly early opening), you'll be able to hit everything in that part of Potter-land with virtually no wait.

I've got another 3 day visit planned at the end of September specifically to see Diagon Alley. I anticipate absoultely insane crowds, but ping me at the end of September if you want some feedback as to how it went.

We'll be there from the 5th-8th, I'm expecting it to be decently busy. But we'll be staying at Royal Pacific, so it will be our first time with EP.

As an FYI, I went to IOA during Columbus day weekend last year (we actually went on that Friday). The lines were, at most 30 minutes for Hogsmeade attractions (Although I was wearing a Hufflepuff shirt and a Hufflepuff student was dealing with the entrance to the attraction and sent me down the Express Pass way. :D) and even shorter for the other attractions in the park. When I went in November 2010 (not long after opening) and September 2012, the lines were about the same. I'd personally say that during that time, Potter can be done and enjoyed without the Express Pass
