So Christmas 2023 to no later than Summer 2025 isn’t too bad given all of the delays in material and labor availability.
That was the pre-pandemic opening timeframe.I love the optimism but where are you getting a Christmas 2023 date? They are saying Summer 2025.
Given the majority of the site is currently dirt that sounds like a great estimate. In 3 years people can
make their plans to go to a whole new park, never mind one new ride.
Yup, makes total sense. That was the pre-pandemic opening timeframe.
They aren’t acknowledging anything close to the nonsense you were claiming. The project was pushing forward at full steam in 2019 and didn’t start to hit the brakes until Summer 2020. You don’t understand how these things actually get done so you were spouting off, even demanding to see photos of people using shovels for major earth works.Comcast CEO Brian Roberts added, "If I look back over Covid, one of the things I wish we could redo was slowing down Epic, because I agree... this is a business that if you build wonderful attractions, there is pent-up demand. We're going to make a fabulous park at Epic, and we're full steam. We're going as fast as we can now to make up for lost time."
As i have been saying for the past two years, and today Comcast ackowledged - that their messing around on this project during the years before/during covid was a massive mistake. Granted they could not have foreseen a global pandemic, but there is always something happening you can never predict (banking crisis or a downturn in the economy) that you should have struck whilst the iron was hot. They had the IPs, attractions were being built in Japan, they had the land, yet they were very slow in getting this project of the ground - which was very unusual for Comcast up to this point as they have been usually very aggressive, resulting in double digit growth. Whilst during a pandemic you can forgive them, before that they were just very slow casual in their approach to the project.
Glad they've acknowledged their mistake, and hopefully they can go full aggressive towards this project.
If they build, tourists will come. I also believe, this will be a game changer for Universal as a whole, not just the stand along park. Being able to package 3 parks, and a water park will be the first time they can really push at taking guests away from staying at Disney.

Imagine a timeline where they stuck to the 2023 opening date and blew people away while Disney World was relentlessly burning their fans. It would have been a blood bath.
