Universal announces new coaster

This ride looks better suited for a Six Flags amusement park, not a THEME park. But then again, I guess Universal's got to do something between now and Potter's arrival (and while it may be popular Back to the Simpsons is hardly innovative---motion-based simulators with 2D screens are practically archaic by now).

While this was a rumor I was opposed to it 100%. But after seing the concept art, I actually can't wait. This ride has made me change my mind on renewing my Universal pass instead of getting one at WDW.

Personally, I think this sounds like an AWESOME idea (except the name...). I've actually had an idea for like this after riding RnRc back when it was newer - an outdoor coaster where you can pick your own soundtrack that actually goes above walkways. And this does even more than that - you actually leave the park and go around CityWalk!

You guys have no idea how much a coaster like this can liven the atmosphere of the already lively CityWalk. If any of you have ever been to Cedar Point, then I'm sure you noticed that the park has a huge feeling of energy and excitement just from walking around - and a big reason for that is because so many of their rides and coasters interact with the midways by going over them or right up along them.

You guys are so quick to knock Universal for every choice they make. "They continue to ruin the theme of their parks." What?? I love Disney as much as you guys, but there is no denying that Disney is a much bigger offender of this. This fits with the theme so much better than, for example, Toy Story Mania (sigh...)

I totally agree with you, this pretty much sums up what I was going to say.

2009-10 are going to be great years for theme park and coaster lovers, it sort of reminds me of how 1999 and 2000 were.

Seems like an interesting idea for a rollercoaster..thing I don't understand is unless I'm missing something each car is going to me a mess of sounds..as each seat will assumingly going to be playing a different song..ugh...if that's the case..plus having a video of your ride..we have that here at Canada's wonderland...costs $25 or more for a 1 minute video and slideshow.

It'll probably sound like noise to people not on the ride (actually, the noise from the car and track will probably drown most of it out), but I'm sure they will design it so at least you can hear the song you picked.

...it would be fun to get a whole train to pick the same song! Then I'm sure you could hear it.

From what I've heard the Japanese version of this ride, Hollywood Dream, has custom seating and speakers so that you can only hear the song you've selected. I'm assuming RipRideRockit will be no different, not to worry. :)
