Universal announces new coaster

I hate this whole "sell them back what they're into" thing.

We get it. We live in an interweb, youtube, high-speed cable modem era. I don't wanna RIDE it!

...and that whole iconographic thing they're shooting for, bit pretentious no? What are they trying to do, make the Internet ADD Coaster the Universal equivalent of the Tree of Life?

Just blegh all around. Add this to the fact that the next time I ride Dueling Dragons I'll probably be chasing after a snitch... seems like the only reason I'll be going to Universal is Horror Nights.

I miss Kong.

Only thing that sounds cool about that is that you can choose the style of music. It sounds a bit like rockin roller coaster, but I wish you could choose your own music on that.

Heading for the great escape.
Sounds excellent, and a creative way of overcoming space limitations by using City walks. And its not taking a life time to construct.

Sounds like a cool idea. With that new rollercoaster together with the Simspons ride and Harry Potter Universal is looking like a great day off from Disney to visit. With all that new stuff you might need more than one day.

Luckily the lack of attractions at DHS provides the gap in the schedule, so looks like an excellent idea.

My love of Disney will never waiver, but this sounds very cool!!! We always slip a day or two in out of our trip to Disney to visit US/IOA and stay at Hard Rock or Portafino Bay (free Express Pass). With all these new additions, I think more time might be warrented.

Coming soon to Universal Studios -- Downtown Dial-up Dash, a sentimental journey through the forgotten world of dial-up internet access. This slow-moving ride will take you on a halting, somewhat stuttering journey through the World Wide Web. Be careful when travelling through Dropped Connection Canyon and the caves of Buffering beach...

Sounds like a winner!

This is the exact point that needs to be thought about. Two people, well 3 including me and many more to come will say the same thing about now going and visiting US & IOA. This will definately effect numbers at all parks in the Orlando area. Disney has been making some additions to the parks, but not to the extent that UE has been as of late. The 09' - 10' seasons are looking to be big for US & IOA.

Competition is good. Bring it on Disney! Let's finally see that new E-ticket for the MK. :D

I'm glad to see Universal expanding since they have a low number of attractions right now and they could definitely use more. I would like to see some heightened competition between Universal and Disney to encourage both to create more attractions. :D

And Universal continues to demand that they ruin the theme of their park. At least they're not tearing something down to put this in which has been their motto but this is not needed in USF and it totally changes the feel of the park. I've been against an outdoor coaster in USF from the start and after seeing this I'm even more so.

This just heats up the coaster wars here in Central Florida! With this announcement, the upcoming SeaWorld Coaster announcement, and the upcoming Busch Gardens coaster announcement, things will be fun again for coaster fans and theme park lovers kind of like it was back about 10 years ago.

If rumor holds true, WDW's Space Mountain is supposed to be "revamped," so if that's the case, everyone is getting a new coaster!

I like the idea of what Uni is doing. Sounds interesting and different. I don't think it's going to be like RnRC because of the launch on RnRC. This looks to have a 90 degree lift and supposedly an inverted loop along the track. The music part and video stuff may be old news, but if we can download or take home for free (most likely for a fee) that's just free advertising for Uni that can go anywhere!

I'm excited. Now... if they could only hurry up with Homer!!!!

Not excited about this one bit. I wish Universal would have waited until Potter came in before it seems they threw in the towel on being a serious theme park. This screams amusement park to me. Maybe it will turn out decent, but it sure doesn't sound good now.

I too am excited! Sounds like every few months for the next two years there's going to be new rides opening!

I think what will happen with the video is that they'll put the Universal logo in the corner, as well as like a "Visit Universal" at the end. They want it to be free so that there'll be like 20,000 videos on YouTube of people riding it having fun. Then everyone will go, "I want to go there!"

I like how it leaves the park too. Should be interesting. And I don't think it'll ruin much of the atmosphere since it's over behind a soundstage.

Between this and The Simpsons at Universal, Toy Story Mania at DHS, the Sea World coaster, the rumored revamp of Space Mountain, and Harry Potter at IOA, now is a great time to be a theme park lover in the Central Florida area.
