Universal and IOA first timer with questions

:sohappy: Well said! CSM clearly has an agenda here, and it has nothing to do with providing the OP with useful (or accurate) information to help her enjoy her vacation. There seems to be at least one in every thread on this site... those who try to portray the Universal parks as being "just ok" with hardly anything to see and do. As many others have stated in countless threads, Universal is on a par with (and in MANY cases exceeds) Disney. The Universal parks have incredible attention to detail that blows away a lot of what Disney has done. If I had some sort of medical condition that prevented me from riding the vast majority of rides in a park, but I still wanted to go and just explore and enjoy the ambience, I would definitely take both Universal parks over MK, DHS or Epcot. From the standpoint of being visually stunning, DAK (minus the cheap carnival atmosphere of Dinoland) is really the only Disney park that comes close to the two Universal parks.

Agenda? :brick:

You have GOT to be kidding me.

If "agenda" is not having the same opinion as you, then sure. I spent my day at USF today, not that I owe you any explanation. I rode everything in the park in an hour and ten minutes. Some agenda.

Or maybe my "agenda" is just letting someone with two herniated discs in her back know just what rides are going to throw her all over the freakin place before she gets on them. Hmmm.

I'm sorry, I have to call B.S. on Jaws. The boat rocks back and forth a little bit. That's it.

Just avoid Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons Ride, Disaster, and Men In Black if you can't do spinning and look for the stationary seats in the other attractions. Otherwise, you should be fine.

:ROFLOL: I don't believe pregnant women are even discouraged from riding Jaws. It turns up a lil very slowly. There sure as hell isn't any jerking and shaking around.

Oh man, you must have some super-secret backdoor pass or teleporation powers or something, considering the 35 min. wait at Mummy and 30 min. wait at Simpsons in the early afternoon today...

Heading for the great escape.
An hour and ten minutes is nothing when time is an outmoded concept. After all where do you think those old De Loreans went? I think someones garage should be checked and I bet their trash bins are empty too.

Pregnant women are most certainly discouraged from JAWS, but like any attraction, they cannot be *forced* not to ride. Technically, legally, an employee (Universal OR Disney for that matter) is not allowed to approach a pregant lady. They have to come to you. Basically, for lack of a much better way of explaining it with a bit more tact, it comes down to "what if she's just fat". As a result, nothing stops a pregant woman from riding *anything* other than her own commen sense and good judgement.

Revenge of the Mummy was posted at 10. It was walk-on. Disaster had a greeter on the street trying to get people in to fill the empty show. MIB was walk-on. Simpsons was posted at 20 and was almost five minutes exactly. ET was walk-on. Even road the Nuthouse Coaster, which was also walk-on. So yes, clearly I have teleportation powers.

The pre-shows alone should take up about 45 mins of your time. I take it you sprinted faster than Hussein Bolt to each attraction?

He must've. :ROFLOL:

Well, I know I was definitely there yesterday (had some time to kill as I waited on some friends to arrive so we could get in line for the TNA PPV), and ROTM definitely had a 35 min. wait. I tried to ride via the SRL but it was so long that I walked out (and the stand-by queue started in the building entrance area). Disaster was posted at 15, which is the typical time for it, but there were definitely people in line. Didn't walk in front of MIB so I dunno their time. Simpsons was definitely a 1/2 hour, maybe more (I've really never had an accurate wait time there so I never trust the sign). And Neutron was 10 and Shrek its typical 15/next show.

I can't believe you have nothing better to do than question whether or not I was really at Universal Studios yesterday. Sheesh.

And pre-shows took 45 minutes? For what? We didn't ride Disaster. That's the only attraction with an extensive preshow. MIB and ET are extremely short. The only thing left is Simpsons and that's only a few minutes.

I'm sorry the lines were long when *you* passed the attractions. I'm sorry you don't want to accept that they were not long when *I* passed the attractions. Believe it or not, in a theme park people move around and wait times *can* vary.

I'm done posting in this thread. It's just gotten utterly ridiculous. :brick:

For what it's worth, I was at Uni yesterday (2/8/09).
Got there about 10:30, did everything I was in the mood for (at a leisurely pace) and left at about 3:30, including eating a burger and reading a book for about an hour.
IOA first:
2 rides on Hulk - Both walk-ons, total of about 20min.
1 ride on Spidey - Walk on.
Rode each Dragon - Both walk-ons, total of about 15min.
Poked around Potter site - 30min
All other rides had wait times of 15min or less.

Universal Studios:
3 rides on Mummy, all single-rider - Total of about 30min.
Twister - 5min wait
T2 - 10min wait
Make up show - No wait
MiB - 2 rides, both single rider - total of 30min.
Simpsons - didn't ride ('cause I hate it) but the posted time was 10min.
Longest wait I saw all day was Mummy standby, which I saw go to 20min.

Crowds at both parks were very light, compared to some days.
Not that there's a point to any of this....

That's not what I meant (and I think you know it) but nice try.

Your agenda is to portray Universal as something far less than what it actually is. Anything to keep someone from going there and discovering for themselves that maybe Disney isn't the only mega theme park in Orlando...and that maybe Universal is actually superior in many ways (especially in recent years).
