United Kingdom Red Phones

I have called them a few times. One time the person just hung up. Might have scared them or something. The next time I got to talk to the whole family. The wife answered and once she figured out that I was a real person she talked for a minute and then passed it to her husband. He talked for a little and then called over his daughter and gave her the phone. It was pretty funny. They just could not belive that it was actually someone on the other end.

I enjoy sitting on the bench across the way and calling the phones. The person who answers gets really freaked out when you start describing what they're wearing.

It'd be funny to call those phones and use a British accent, etc and play into the theme!

Are there any other payphones on property in themed areas like that? ie: any on the New York set at DHS?

Has anyone ever called these? (The original poster?)
And did anyone pick up?
I imagine after some confusion, you could have a nice conversation with someone.

I just called the top one this morning and got a blast of a ring in my ear. It was like when you dial a fax machine by mistake.

My son and I love to call these when we are standing on the bridge between France & GB and remark on the people's clothing, what they are eating, etc. It is hilarious. :ROFLOL:

I also had a friend of mine set up her daughter by texting me when they were there and then I called and spoke to her daughter and told her I was makingsure she was having a magical vacation--she was speechless!

And they do make the fax machine noise sometimes if the park is not yet open when you call.

I'm gonna call and ask them to pass the Polaner All Fruit, in a British accent, and then immediately say "Can you please pass the jelly!"

Just called and someone answered with " Cheerio"! They seemed a little freaked out...

That's bizarre as Cheerio means goodbye! Plus it's not really said that often in England, strangely enough we use the word ..... Goodbye! :ROFLOL:

lol this is neat! Although, I keep getting hung up on when I call! Sounds like teenage girls giggling and not believing the phone is actually ringing.

Oh, I've got to try this.
No answer on the left one. I did get the fax noise. I wonder what people think as they walk by and the phone is ringing. A good time to call might be in the evening, after people have had a few cocktails.

We have a podcast here in the UK called disneybrit and they often call the phones as part of their show. It's always quite funny as many people have no idea someone is calling for real.

We called 3x, the first time the guy hung up on us, the second time I ask about the weather and then if they could deliver fish and chips to us. He told me I had the wrong number. My son loved it when we did that and every once in a while he will ask us to do it again. Maybe this weekend.

Then I called my sister there, she used her cell phone to tell me she was there. I forget which phone number was which phone booth. I know that was silly but it was fun.
