JUST RETURNED FROM OUR 2nd DISNEY WORLD TRIP IN A MONTH. 1st TRIP FROM SEPT 7 THRU SEPT 11 WITH ONE SET OF GRANDKIDS, 2nd TRIP FROM OCT. 6 THRU 10th WITH ANOTHER SET OF GRANDCHILDREN. FIRST TRIP WE STAYED AT THE ALL STAR MUSIC RESORT, WE TOOK THREE ROOMS FOR 4 NIGHTS. THE ROOMS WERE ADEQUATE BUT IT WAS OVER 1/4 MILE FROM ROOMS TO THEME PARK BUSSES. WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THEME PARKS IT IS OVER 1/4 MILE TO PARK ENTRANCE IN MOST CASES (ESPECIALLY EPCOT). PERHAPS MANAGEMENT THINKS WE ALL NEED TO WALK AN EXTA MILE IF WE WISH TO STAY AT ONE OF THEIR ECONOMY RESORTS (1/4 MILE TIMES 4). DURING OUR VISIT WE NOTED THAT SEVERAL ATTRACTIONS WERE CLOSED AND SOME OTHERS BROKE DOWN FREQUENTLY. A GLARING DIFFERENCE FROM OUR PREVIOUS TRIPS (AT LEAST 100 WITH OUR CHILDREN AND NOW WITH OUR GRANDCHILDREN) WAS THE ATTITUDE OF THE DISNEY EMPLOYEES. WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT PATENTED DISNEY SMILE AND EFFICIENCY? WE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS DID NOT SEEM TO BE MAINTAINED AS USUAL AND THE EXPECTED CLEANLINESS OF THE BATHROOM FACILITIES WAS LACKING.

WE HAD ALREADY PROMISED OUR SON AND HIS CHILDREN A SECOND TRIP IN OCTOBER ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. WE DECIDED TO STAY OFF PROPERTY AND I WAS ABLE TO GET ACCOMODATIONS AT THE PEABODY IN ORLANDO FOR THE SAME PRICE PER ROOM AS ONE OF DISNEY'S ECONOMY RESORTS, THIS IS A REAL FOUR STAR HOTEL AND IT IMPROVED OUR EXPERIENCE (1 MILE LESS WALKING PER DAY) ALTHOUGH ON OUR LAST DAY DISNEY RAISED THE PARKING FEE FROM $8 TI $9. THE ONE MONTH DIFFERENCE REALLY SHOWED, NOW THE BEAUTIFUL ROSE GARDENS AT EPCOT WERE MOSTLY DEAD AND RAGGED, ALSO NOTICED THE BEAUTIFUL TOPIARIES VISIBLE FROM THE MONORAIL SYSTEM ARE GONE AND THE GROUNDS IN GENERAL ARE NOT NEARLY AS WELL MAINTAINED. THERE WAS A VERY NOTICEABLE SHORTAGE OF STAFF AND MANY OF THE STAFF NOT ONLY DID NOT SMILE BUT WERE ACTUALLY SURLY. MANY STAFF MEMBERS WERE DRESSED SLOPPILY AND GROSSLY OVERWEIGHT (PERHAPS MANY WERE OVERWORKED AND UNDERPAID). MANY ATTRACTIONS WERE SHUT DOWN FOR REPAIRS.

THIS TRIP WAS A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. (DO YOU KNOW A WEBSITE WHERE I CAN TRADE SEASONAL PASSES FOR 1 DAY PASSES AT SEAWORLD OR UNIVERSAL?) I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND AN E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR DISNEY MANAGEMENT BUT AS A LONG TIME DISNEY CUSTOMER MY FAMILY AND I WILL NOT BE RETURNING FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

MAYBE MICHAEL EISNER WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY OF HIS RIDICULOUSLY HIGH SALARY?

First off, please don't make a post in all caps.

Secondly, all i'm going to say is that it sounds like you spent your whole vacation noticing the horrible things and bad things about Disney instead of enjoying the time with your family. It's Disney World, you're going to walk a lot. If you're not going to stay on Disney grounds then fine, but if you want go ahead and write to Guest Relations.

Honestly in my opinion, I don't go around noticing how well kept the topiaries are, i'd rather focus on the time with my family. I won't comment though on your comment about CM's either, that's a sensitive topic for me.

I can understand being upset by unfriendly cast members; however, what is wrong with there being overweight cast members? Is that really an issue to be upset with Disney? Of all your comments, that one, i believe is kind of puzzling. I have seen overweight cast members at Disney, it does not bother me. Overweight employees ruined your vacation?....puzzling...I know things are not perfect, but i believe it may be possible that someone other than cast members was a bit surly during your trip.... Often times, the attitude in which you enter a situation alters your perception of it... :zipit:

Whats wrong with walking 1/4 mile... are people now that lazy? You probably walk 20+ just around the park, whats an extra 1/4?

When I go I try to enjoy the park... Sure things need repairing but I couldn't imagine the cost if they kept everything PERFECT all the time. Ive been 20+ times to WDW so i have seen changes but to say the park is in worse shape, i'll have to disagree with that.

I'm just gonna come out and say it:

Don't worry about not coming back, I don't think Disney will miss you and your 'tude.

I think it would be best to direct your concerns to Disney itself. Posting a rant, such as this one, on a message board serves little purpose. I can't really understand what you hoped to accomplish.

...and also I think you should familiarize yourself with this:

Come on Stan what are you on about. you should be looking at the faces of your grand children when they see there favourite Disney charecters and just see them light up. That what disney is about not about topery and how the CM's look like. Yes Disney does need to keep the park looking respectable but not every little thing perfect. And when you go you have to expect at least a couple of rides being fixed. i.e its a small world in 04, lots of people missed it but they have to so that it can be better for longer. And as for the so called "over weight" cast members, i really think that is wrong. Its the personalty that counts not the size.

And i really don't think Disney will miss your custom and there is no need to start a rant on a forum as good as this!

First, welcome to WDWmagic's boards.

Second, if your experience was not what you expected, e-mail disney guest services at the e-mail mkt provided above. Telling us here is nice if you just wanted to vent some steam, but will have no effect on how Disney operates. Disney will get back to you if your concerns are legitimate. However, if you make a point of complaining of actually having to walk a little or that cast members are "overweight", they will most likely write off your complaints as insincere and unfounded.

You must expect to walk a little when you come to the parks. Unless Disney starting escorting everyone on their own segways, you are going to have to walk. Also complaining about rose gardens not blooming anymore will not be taken seriously. Even Disney doesn't have the power to keep rose bushes blooming 365 days a year. If gardens inside and around the parks didn't look well-kept in general, ok, but I haven't seen any evidence of that on any of my trips to WDW's 4 parks recently (although its been over a month now). Disney's horticulture team, in general, remains very attentive to the grounds.

With 55,000+ CM's, there is no way to keep them all smiling and happy all the time. You will eventually come across some who (a) don't care and (b) are not very nice people to begin with. However, from my experiences, for every poor CM, there are two more that are willing to do something special or are very nice. Unfortunately, its always the bad eggs that you remember.

i probably would have some sympathy with some of your gripes but what has being overweight got to do with you or anyone else , we don`t live in a perfect world and irrelevant of your size you are entitled to go out and work at whatever you want to do, and do it to the best of your ability, just because your slim does not make you a better person.

i find peoples comments about peoples weight to be offensive and i take people as i find them, i treat them as i would like to be treated, maybe this is why we have peole with many eating disorders because of remarks by people like yourself.
my friends 10 yearold DD has been diagnosed as being anorexia and bullimia all because someone said she was fat which she wasn`t, now this child will probably battle with this for the rest of her life.
Maybe people like yourself who are perfect or should i say think they are perfect, should take a hard look at yourselves and think before open your mouths.

A few notes...

You stayed at All Star? You have a seasonal pass? Did you also get your passholder discount... i'll put this in terms you might understand.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

You had to walk? Oh no.. how could they? You paid less for lesser transportation, how dare they?

Since when does the Peabody have better transport? They can't park anything as close as ANY wdw bus and they run on a shorter schedule with fewer buses.

You can't trade a WDW pass for seaworld or universal - that points out on the "WDW Guest Color Wheel" you're in the "Idiot" category. Tickets are nonrefundable nontransferable - and most certainly not for non-WDW owned or operated parks.

Rose Gardens do not bloom 24/7 and trimming them every day is bad for their health. Become an expert rose gardener and i'll care about your opinion on that topic.

The topiaries have been removed FOR YEARS. Did you read that on some website? Dtroops? Mouseplanet? Oo, oo, was it the DIS?

1) If a CM is overweigh, that is nothing of your concern.
2) Rehabs are a good thing. If you don't want to put up with it, go during a peak season
3) Not true, I suggest you don't comment on things that you do not know nor have any evidence to prove your point.

I could pick through the rest of that post, but I don't think most of it deserves a responce. Perhaps you should try being a CM; I doubt you would critizize(sp?) them so harshly.

WOW, I usually enjoy reading trip reports. It's sad that your trip was less than magical however when you go into something with negativity the result will be negative. I will make a comment on your CM grossly overweight issue....Honestly, I didnt realize we had a 100% perfect human being posting amongst us  . What does a CM's weight have to do with you and your family and your enjoyment WDW? I apologize if this persons comment offended anyone who read it especially WDW CM's...all of which have been courteous and cute each and every time I've visited the parks.

Such ignorance makes me ill:hurl:

Wow, I would hate to be you and walk around so miserable all the time. When I'm in Disney I don't pay attention to any of the less than perfect stuff. I focus on how incredible the place is and how much it means to me and how much I like being there with my family. Disney is one of the most impressive companies and their theme parks are the best in the world. If that's not good enough for you, I can't imagine you are ever happy.

PS - I just stayed in 2 different Disney deluxe resorts on my recent trip and had to walk a very long ways to get to the parking lot. All the resorts are huge and all will require a lot of walking, whether they are value resorts or deluxe resorts.

PSS - Walking is good for you.
