unfolded park maps

Is there anywhere that I can get unfolded park maps for the purposes of framing?

For you smart alecks, I am referring to obtaining the maps before they are ever folded and creased, I don't want someone to unfold them for me ;)

Maybe you should contact Disney directly. Whoever prints them for Disney has them already folded when they get to the parks. They might be able to direct you to the printer to get a copy that's unfolded. I can't believe Disney hasn't picked up on this yet...they could sell framed park maps and make money off of it! I know I'd buy one! Good luck finding some!

I believe you can iron out the creases. If you place the map between two towels and then turn the iron on low heat, you can slowly work the creases out. Give that a shot. I would take a handful of maps though, just in case you mess one up.

I think where the paper creases causes the color to whiten.....

Not always. Usually the “whitening” occurs when a printed piece of paper repeatedly folded and unfolded. The “whitening” effect are actually small tears in the paper caused my mechanical fatigue. In most cases depending on the printing medium you can iron out the creases without any noticeable effects on the folded area providing it has only been folded once.

P.S. I am definitely going to try this. I would love to have some framed Disney maps. Good call.

Same here, would definately look good in my Disney Playroom, and at sometime in the future, my Disney Home.....

You might also check with some local framing shops -- there's a place near my work that will 'iron out' the creases on posters and mount them on foamboard for about $10-$15. I actually have some park maps that I got and never opened just for this purpose!

Wow all of those answers sound good, but from what I know the maps come to the park already folded, I was actually near a box of them a few weeks ago outside of one of my break rooms. As for getting an unfolded one, I guess just call Disney :) Enjoy!

If you get some fairly new ones without really bad creases just have them dry mounted at a frame shop. It's a heated pressing process that adheers whatever it is youre dry mounting to a peice of foam core. People have folded maps mounted at the frame shop I work at frequently. The wrinkles are nearly non existent afterwards...espescially if the creases weren't worn badly in the first place. For something the size of a disney map it would probably cost you around $25. :)

Does anyone remember the giant water-color looking maps they used to sell in the parks? Are they still around?

I still have one I've never gotten framed around here some place....
