When I rode SGE in December, I was really let down. I went in with an open mind, having read both the good and the bad about it, and it just did nothing for me. I think the Stitch character is/was kinda cool, but he's been overmarketed and shoved down your throat. I can't stand that for any character (even Episode III was waaay over-marketed, and I loved that). One thing I remember from the ride, unfortunately, is how the fabric on Stitch's ears had ripped away from the rest of his head. I didn't ride SGE in May when I was there, maybe in October I'll try it again. Maybe.

I guess I'd just like to ask those who "don't like the attraction" why they don't like it - the people who think it is so awful that the building should be torn down, and the people who "like Stitch but don't like the attraction". I'm not being rude or sarcastic, I'm just curious what your actual reasons are for not liking the attraction.

Again, I haven't seen it since the rehab from AE, but if the SFX, lighting, sound, AA's, and other characteristics of the show itself (technology and theatrical effects) are similar to how they were in AE, then I don't think I'll be able to say it's an awful attraction. I dunno...I guess I just have to wait until next June.

"Hey Tom. Have you done that Stitch show? I guess it's fairly new. It was really neat - lots of special effects, good audio and was pretty entertaining. I think you guys would like it, next time you're down here..."

I like your aunt and uncle :)

The reason I don't like SGE is because 1. The story was weak. 2. There is not very much to see. 3. Some of the effects are recycled from other rides (like the chile dog smell, water being shot in your face ) 4. Stitches voice and phrases get annoying. The one thing I did like was the stitch AA, oh and the cannons were pretty cool. The bad parts defiantly overweight the good parts. Sorry, it's a waste of time, and space

Heading for the great escape.
Sorry it gets a big IT SUCKS vote from the sak household, great expectations were shattered by an attraction that is conceived to shift merchandise

Well compared to Alien Encounter, Stitch should get the boot. It isnt the Stitch character that bothers me, Its the "replacing an awesome ride" part that does. I wouldnt mind at all if the added a stitch ride... I just wish it was a completely new ride, not a replacement for another!

I really am getting tired of so many people putting SGE down. I don't think that this attraction is 'garbage' or really a 'huge dissapointment' when it comes to disney attractions. The theming everywhere on this ride is futuristic, entertaining, and detailed - even down to the intergalactic language found everywhere that can be translated into english. The animatronic stitch is so impressive and technologically advanced that it really shows the lengths that they went to on this attraction. My whole family really enjoys this one much more than alien encounter because the whole family can see it an enjoy it together. Both times that I have been on it (dec 04) (may 05) the crowd was laughing and screeching. People say that there is no storyline but I really find that the pre-show and chambers create a great story for all to understand. I just don't see how this ride can be put down so much for the amount of creativity that was put into it. This ride was not thrown together just to promote a character, as many think.

You've also gotten the point of my post :) Thank you!

I loved AE - it was great. But, it did strike me as something odd to have put in the MK, being the stereotypical "kids" park. It was creepy, and scary, indeed. Perhaps it would have been better placed in MGM or Epcot Future World.

As I mentioned, I have not been on SGE, but from the positive responses I've gotten from family and people on here, it seems like a more appropriate attraction for the MK, since it uses a Disney character and has been toned down a bit, as far as the "terrorizing little kids" part.

I can respect the opinions of those who just don't enjoy the show because they feel it's childish, hard to follow and just a recycled mess of other attractions, but I still don't think the Imagineers just "threw" it together just to get a project done. WDI doesn't do that. But, if you just don't enjoy the attraction, then don't go on it. That's why I will never walk thru the Swiss Family Treehouse agian, or experience Sounds Dangerous at MGM, or drive the Indy Speedway (I can go visit the real one anytime I want!!). These attractions are still well-made, well-themed and impressive from an entertainment and technology perspective, but I just don't enjoy them for one reason or another - but again, I'm not going to say these attractions are "the worst attractions ever" or that they should be "bulldozed" because there are many people who DO enjoy them, and a lot of WDI work went into them.

Yes the theming is amazing and they put a lot of detail into this ride. As for the animatronic stitch I will have to disagree, I think that the technology in AE was 100% better, there is nothing realistic about him. It looks like he is covered in blue astro turf, or a felt material. But the ride is horrible in my opinion, even ask the 5 min wait that they have had for 3 months as my proof. The majority of the people agree that compared to alien encounter, SGE is a 'huge dissapointment' or 'garbage'.

Just my opinion, nobody get mad please!

Hey everyone!
you will probably hate me for this but i went to WDW for the 16th time in August and i experienced Stitch's Great Escape for the first time and i quite enjoyed it, it was no Alien Encounter but i thought from all the reviews on this website it was going to be awful. i went in thinking that this was going to suck but i came out laughing a fair bit and telling my mum and dad about it, they came on it and of course hated it but in my opinon it was a fair attraction which could have been slighty better.

I agree with Tom. Just because someone doesn't like the character behind a ride doesn't mean that someone doesn't like the ride. I also agree that someone shouldn't be critical of a ride at WDW, or any theme park for that matter, solely based on the character behind it. Especially if that person has never experienced the ride. That opinion is just plain ridiculous.

I, however, like Stitch. I think he is cute and highly mischevious, a lot like me...:goodnevil I didn't care enough for the movie to see it more than once, but I still think the character is great. I even liked it when he "TPed" the castle. But I did not like the ride. The AAs were good, and the story line seemed to impress the children in attendance. But I didn't like the fact that the shoulder harness pressed down on my shoulders (I have had back surgery and didn't expect that, since I had never experienced AE).

I never really liked AE. I thought that it was not scarry enough to warrant the hype. At the same time SGE is average....with that being said I was amazed how many people loved SGE when I was down there this month. Every kid we saw or talked to loved it and parents also enjoyed it. I think that Disney did a smart thing putting Stich into the ride because it really made it more attractive to kids and also is a HUGE advertisement that was missing from it. Now Disney can sell SGE stuff like crazy while selling AE tshirts to kids problably did not go over that well.
