UK people......booking planes

Hello

We are hoping to go back 2020, having been twice before we have always booked though agent (Virgin & Thompson) however this time debating booking disney myself and then the flights. Have never booked flights my self just looking bit of advice and help??? Is this cheaper way or do u prefer using a agent?

I used to use Virgin Holidays and did two trips with them in 2001 & 2003. But since then I've done three more trips booking flights ourselves directly with Virgin Atlantic and then booking with Disney UK for hotel and tickets, usually with the free dining offer.
You can at certain times of the year get flights for around £500.

We book hotel and tickets through Disney and then the flights separately using Skyscanner to compare. I'm not adverse to virgin though we've used them before it's just cheaper separately usually. I'd compare everything, Disney usually quote astronomical prices for flights due to not being released until 11 months out, by which time I'd want to have accommodation booked for free dining etc..

Thank you for all the replies i figure I try booking direct with disney and as long as they quote 2500 or under i shall book that way! If not be playing the agents against each other again to gey price down! Cant bloody wait!!!!!

Ive found its swings and roundabout when booking either with a travel agent or booking seperately. we booked flights this spetember direct with virgin for £540 and plannign to stay in my parents dvc villa for some of the time.

I would recommend having a look at kenwood travel as we have managed to book a package holiday with them twice now and hotels + fights have been cheaper than booking separately. They also use virgin/thomas cook/delta etc for the flights so you have some flexibility in choosing how you get there which can make a big difference in cost (Manchester is usually more expensive than gatwick). We have booked to go this may for approx £1800 (i think £184something) flying with virgin from Manchester and staying down international drive for 15 nights. We are also planning a destination wedding this September and looking for people coming to our wedding we found for a weeks stay in coronado springs with specific virgin flights (it was cheaper than this but everyone wants to fly together at a specific time) the price was 1100 per person for 2 people in one standard room.

If you have any employees benefits where you work for certain travel sites you can also get a good deal. we receive 10% cashback on a stay this September at POFQ with hotels.com. This could be another way for you to book separately and get things a bit cheaper!

Hope my ramblings are of some help to give you idea of costs!

Is that free now? I had to pay last time!!! agent told me not bother but i weret risking some stranger sitting next to me kid!! Like to be all together!

I def want to stay onsite, perfectly happy with a moderate and would like to upgrade the eating plan this time prob be last time we come til the grandkids appear and that wants to be a bloody long wait!!!!

It depends which Economy fare you pick. Economy Light means it's free to pick your seat when you check in, Economy Classic you can pick it any time. It'll cost you about £100 more per person for Economy Classic though.

Um.....being thick here but whats the difference then between classic and light?

think its the benefit of picking seat and then non refundable for the light seat i think.
so if the flight gets moved or you have to cancel you do not get a refund.
the classic you will prbably get some money back if you have to cancel

Pretty sure that 'light' doesn't include hold luggage (or maybe carry on?) and stuff like that.
