The song's called Vertigo, of course stuff is gonna be messed up! He can't count when he's at a place called Vertigo, which is everything he wished he didn't know! :lookaroun

I saw the Joshua Tree tour in Tampa Stadium. Stood in line for 2 days with some friends. We had almost as much fun waiting in line as we did at the concert. I must say, it was the BEST concert I ever went to. I was not even a huge fan before the show. I am now. Bono and The Edge know how to do it right. :wave:

Same here, except I got suspended from a High School dance group I was in (this was 1989 after all) for skipping a major dress rehersal to go to concert. All and it was a big deal back then and the wrost thing I ever did. I would do it again in a heart beat. That concert was great. But then I was a huge fan before the show.

However I think U2's music was building up to Joshua Tree and the went down hill from there. I am really a 80's U2 fan, no so much the 90's and they were starting to get back to the old feel a while ago. Give me Boy or War anyday. I think where the streets have no name is one of the best songs ever made. The only 90's or later song I really liked was "One".

Does anyone thing this new album is closer to their old stuff? Not sure I want to hear it if it is like all the Zoo junk they did before.

Same here, I'm more of an 80's U2 fan myself. Used to be my favorite band, but I kind of lost interest after Joshua Tree and Bono's non-stop political views. Just got too tiresome!!!!!

Even seen them in a small club downtown Atlanta right before they hit big. Club 88 (I think) was the name. Last time I seen them was 2/3 years ago.

Took a lot of european cd's to a press release for Amnesty International years ago and had the band sign quite a few things. Will eventually sell them.....

I picked it up yesterday, and so far, I like it a lot. I've been a fan since "I Will Follow" was one of the hundred or so videos MTV had. My favorite album of all-time is War and song is "Sunday Bloody Sunday". I was not a big fan of Pop, but I really liked All That You Can't Leave Behind. I've discovered the common denominator to my favorite U2 songs throughout the years: Steve Lillywhite. Anything he's produced or mixed, for the most part, I like much better than the other producers U2 has used.

I have to agree. Sunday Bloody Sunday is great. I like to think of myself as a U2 fan back before they were big. Once everyone knew who they were, they weren't as good.
I never looked into the producer. Did Steve Lillywhite have anything to do with this C.D. If so I might check it out

Okay, I've looked through the liner notes of my CDs, and here's what I've discovered with regards to Steve Lillywhite. Now, in many cases, he was a co-producer or co-mixer, but in the early days he did everything solo:

I believe Steve Lillywhite's ear for what makes a good U2 song coincides with mine. I wouldn't begin to know the first thing about producing or mixing a song, but I know what I like to hear. Lillywhite likes to emphasize The Edge's "ringing" guitar. I like that. I heard a remixed (non-Lillywhite) version of "Walk On" on the radio without the ringing guitar during the chorus ("So Walk On", *no guitar*, "Walk on", *no guitar*). I couldn't stand it.

He's been involved in most of their best songs. The few gems that come to mind that he had no involvement in are "Bad", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", "Running to Stand Still", "One Tree Hill", "One", "Kite", and "New York". That's about it.

Sound like there is some hope for How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. I will at least have to borrow it from my brother and see how it is. (he downloads all his music to his ipod anyway.)

Agreed. I'd bump "All Because of You" up on your list to right after "Vertigo", if I had to sequence my favorites. Great stuff!

So yesterday at Thanksgiving I asked my brother (the orignal U2 fan) what he thought of the new CD. If it was more like there old music. I had to laugh at his answer. "Well Steve Lillywhite had a lot to do with the producing, so it is pretty good. " I guess I was the only one who didn't know that! :lol:

He is loaning it to me.
