Typhoon Lagoon or Aquatica

Family of 5 with 3 kids (16, 13 and 4) are heading to The World in July. After our resort/park stay we are headed to Kissimmee to stay with family. Wanting to do a water park. We have only done Blizzard Beach and that was at least 6 years ago. Any opinions would be appreciated!!! Thanks!

I have never done a Disney waterpark. (Hello bucketlist in October 2016!) but I have spent time at Aquatica. I really enjoyed Aquatica. There were rides for the daring and rides for young kids as well. I thought there was plenty of shade (I burn easily so this is something I notice). The lazy river was one of our favorites. I loved the Dolphin Plunge ride where you go thru the dolphin tank. While I certainly love Disney and can't wait to try their waterparks, I don't think you can go wrong spending a day at Aquatica.

Thanks for the detail! We went to Discovery Cove a few years ago and were more than impressed. I am a true Disney fan, but think we're leaning towards going to Aquatica :)

Aquatica was a lot of fun-lots of great slides which we thought were better than TL and a fantastic lazy river, but we love snorkeling with fish in TL and find it easier to negotiate. We spend a half day in TL but a full day would be better for Aquatica. Both are good choices but our fav is Blizzard Beach. Enjoy!

We've been to all of the water parts including Acqatica, Wet and Wild, typhoon Lagoon, blizzard Beach and Water Mania when it was open. In my opinion river country should never have been closed as it was truly unique, but I'd plump for Typhoon Lagoon every time as there's something foe everyone including a game of mini golf to round off the day

The mini golf is at Blizzard Beach.

Dumb question... Do you have to have a "waterparks and more" ticket or can I go to one of Disney's waterparks with one of my 6 day package tickets?

Yes you need the water parks and more option or you need to purchase a single day water park ticket. You cannot use one of your " base" or "park hopper" tickets for admission to a water park.
