Well just found out I have type 2 diabetes. So a question for people with diabetes and go to the Magic Wonderland. Do you just throw caution to the wind and go for it or keep things in check. What do you eat while there?

I've been to WDW with diabetics. It can be done...talk to your doctor.

Never throw caution to the wind. You can still have a great time though.

I am diabetic, and I have found that with all the walking I tend to run low on blood sugar. I don't throw total caution to the wind but I let myself have some ice cream if I want it. Are you on any medication? That might make a difference on how you plan your meals. If you want to chat more about it feel free to message me.

Talk to your doctor for advice on how to vacation! Next contact Disney dining and let them know. They will prepare special meals for you at ts if needed and cs will sustitute food for you also. Good luck adjusting to your new lifestyle.

You should be ok. Like it has already been said, the amount of walking that you'll be doing will help a ton. Personally the only meal that I've had a bit of trouble with is breakfast - we usually do quick service for breakfast and especially in the parks, the choices are pretty carb-heavy. I just plan ahead for breakfast but for lunch, dinner and snacks I'm usually ok.

Type 2 diabetic speaking. You need to learn your particular body and how fast or slowly your body handles sugar and pay particular attention to the clues your body gives you when you're getting low. Listen to your doctor and his advice of course, but you're the best person to know what your body is feeling at any point in time. All that being said with the amount of walking you do at Disney it does allow you opportunities to enjoy that premium Mickey or cupcake so enjoy.

My DH hasn't had any problems. He can feel the need to stop for a snack but other than that he doesn't have any issues finding something to eat. As a rule we avoid carbs and you can get a salad anywhere. We tend to avoid buffets but they do have a lot of healthier options for breakfast.

:) Balance is the key here. You can have that cookie or cupcake, but eat it in smaller doses throughout the day. If you go out to eat, eat a meal that is packed with protein and fiber, then enjoy some dessert. Call WDW-Dine before you go to see how they can accommodate your needs. Disney is great about considering the dietary needs of their guests!
