two single strollers or a double?

I'm struggling to decide what to bring this year. We have a 1 year old and a 2 year old, and we have a double-wide jogging stroller (Bumbleride) which fits nicely through doorways, but still tough navigating stores, etc in general. We also have two single maclaren's that are great small strollers, versatile for monorails, busses, stores, etc etc. The trick is, do we want to both have to push a stroller or just one of us?

We did the double last year and we are leaning towards two singles this year for versatility. Any thoughts from those of you who have done this?

We prefer the double so there is just one. But we've talked about doing 2 for the same reason and we have 3 kiddos to haul through the parks now. It's a tough call. I still kinda wish we had the double maclaren, I hear such great things. But we have the sit and stand joovy which really isn't bad, people are great about letting us wheel it right into the monorail.

We prefer 2 singles as well. Much easier to navigate as Yoda said. Plus - it's much lighter for whoever is doing the pushing, and you can split up if need be (like one is having a meltdown and the other is fine...those things have a nasty way of spreading to the other kid if they are in close proximity!). Plus - with my kids - they poke at each other in the double - better to have them separated!

the one thing i would think about is how are you going to get on buses, if using. with 2 that young you are each going to have a stroller and a child to get on bus. will either child be able to board bus without help? just another thing to think about. i would have trouble holding or helping child up bus steps while carrying a stroller or would dad be loading the strollers and you getting both toddlers on?

I'm going to go against the grain here and say double. We rented 2 singles for our trip last December and ended up using a double for most of the trip. (We were there for a family reunion and were able to trade with my sister's family.)

We thought it would be better with 2 singles, especially since my son is tall enough to ride several rides my daughter is too short for, but for us a double just worked better. It was nice that only one of us had to push sometimes, so the other one could have their hands free to make a phone call, check a map, open an ice cream bar, etc. BUT - that's just worked best for our family. :)

Either way though, you'll be with your kids at WDW! So singles or double it will be a great time!

I will say double as well, but that is based on my family's touring style and stroller. I googled your stroller real quickly and it looks like the front wheels swivel? If so, turning in tight stores shouldn't be bad. If you had to kick up the front end whenever you want to make a turn, that would get mighty annoying!

Our touring mode is that most stuff (~80%) is all together. The trips apart are for an activity or two (height requirement ride that DD can't ride or M-n-G that DS isn't interested in), so they're short enough for the kids to walk or be carried. If there are two strollers, then you both will always be pushing one (sorry to state the obvious). This would have been a big problem for us since it turns out our DD does not like to ride in the stroller at WDW... she likes to be walking around, soaking up the excitement! We would have each been pushing a stroller and one parent would have also been keeping track of DD.

Maybe the answer is both: there are clips to attach two singles together. This may make it too wide to fit through doors, but it would still be useful for park cruising. I've never used them, so I don't know anything about this particular item, but this will give you an idea...

I considered doing this as well because we have twins and they like to annoy each other in the double stroller, but we decided it was more convenient to just have one to push. I haven't really had any issues gretting around with my double although getting on the bus is so difficult we decided to just forgo buses altogether.

I would say double too. But for our last trip we only had a double jogger and there was no way DH was loading that on buses boats and monorails. So we bought the Chico twin for the trip and loved it!! It was easy to fold up and one of us always got a break from pushing. Also more room to hold stuff in a double.

I know its not practical to go out and buy a stroller for a trip but when we got back we sold it on craigslist for exactly what we paid. It was a great stroller and I wish we could have justified keeping it but my daughter never uses a stroller anymore so we did not need it. Just a thought.
