Two ships at Castaway Cay?

I was looking at a website that shows how many ships are in port when you are in port and I noticed that on May 21, 2013 the Magic and Dream will both be in Castaway Cay. Obviously one will have to tender correct? I mean there is no way both can dock their right? Has this ever happened before? What is the beach like? How does food work? I have so many questions… LOL

Hmm… After looking up the cruise schedule for that cruise it seems it’s doing:
Day 1: Orlando
Day 2: Nassau
Day 3: Day at Sea (What’s Up With That)
Day 4: Castaway Cay (With the Disney Magic)
Day 5: Orlando

Makes no sense. My guess is the sea day and the Castaway Cay day are mixed up.

Why would they do that though? They are also doing it the week or two before… it makes no sense. Unless they want a photo op with the Magic in Castaway Cay.

I'm with Dave. My first guess is that's a mistake. That's too many people there.

I know… don’t you think Disney Cruise Lines would of fixed it? I feel like contacting them just to find out. LOL

EDIT: This is also the date the Disney Magic will be in Castaway Cay for it’s transatlantic cruise to Barcelona, Spain! Hmm… makes no sense… the Disney Dream could easily just go the next day… so confusing!

Wow. We are going to be on the Magic on May 21st. What a fantastic photo opportunity. I also want to know how this will work.

I assume the Magic would tender passengers to shore. I am not sure how busy Castaway Cay will be or how the food will work. Sure will be one nice photo op.

EDIT: Seems like Disney Cruises and CruiseTT has the wrong information. It is not possible considering there would not be enough supplies for the demand. I assume the Dream will just pass by the Magic and give it a show while it spends its day at sea. Still good enough to get photo’s though!

DOUBLE EDIT: Oh Tammy according to CruiseTT when we go to Nassau there will be the Carnival Sensation, Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Breeze MSC Poesia, Norwegian Epic and Us there. Busy Busy!!

I just checked the itinerary for the May 19th four night cruise on the Dream and it is running itinerary B, which would have the ship at sea on May 21st and at Castaway Cay on May 22nd 2013. It appears to be one of only 2 days in 2013 where the Dream will be running itinerary B, the other is May 5th. It is otherwise running itinerary A.

That makes more sense. We were on the CC from the Fantasy when the Dream sailed by. It was unbelievably awesome.

We actually saw her three times and I was crazy excited every time. Awesome horn battle.

Sounds like you are going to have a busy day in Nassau!

There are a host of reasons why CC cannot have two ships in port at once. You can only dock one ship, and there are no (OK, very niminal) tender docks on the island. Not to mention that there are no tenders on the island as well (OK, so they *could* send some over, but that is a pain)

The ship "plugs into" the island to allow charges from the bars and gift shops to go back to your stateroom. A ship on tender cannot plug into the island infrastructure. They would have to do manual room charges for guests on the tendered ship.

Ships crew has shore duties when in port - they help to run CC> There would have to be some complex scheduling to decide who stays on board and who goes ashore.

I can't see them being ever able to handle two ships at once at CC given the way it is set up.
